Question

Why is our wedding in Morocco?

Answer

Tala's mother was born and raised in the capital, Rabat, Tala lived there for a year when she was five, and she returns with her family every few years. Many of her relatives still reside in the center of the city. Our wedding is technically in Temara, but Temara is just a 15-20 minute drive from downtown Rabat. Tala's father was born and raised in Nablus, Palestine, and many of her relatives also live in Palestine or throughout the diaspora in the Middle East and Europe. Morocco is a central location for our guests visiting from across 4 continents, and it is also a relatively easier location for Palestinians to visit. Trevor's family is very excited to visit the beautiful country of Morocco, and we are looking forward to our families and friends all convening in this remarkable and historic location.

Question

What are some recommended transportation options in Morocco?

Answer

A great way to get around each city in Morocco is inDrive. It operates similar to Uber and is very affordable. We recommend downloading the app before you arrive to Morocco. When using inDrive, you book a car and pay in cash once you arrive to your destination. The price is listed when you book the car. When traveling between cities, we recommend using the train, a taxi van (if traveling in a big group and don't mind the longer trip), or renting a car.

Question

How does cellular data work in Morocco?

Answer

Your plan may cover international data, but if not, you can purchase a local SIM card, which is one of the most affordable and convenient ways to access mobile data in Morocco. 1. Where to buy a SIM Card? You can find SIM cards from Morocco’s three main providers: Maroc Telecom, Orange, and Inwi. Here’s where: - At the airport: Upon arrival at major airports like Casablanca, Marrakech, or Rabat, you’ll find kiosks selling SIM cards. These kiosks often offer tourist-friendly data packages. - In the city: You can buy SIM cards at official provider stores or authorized retailers in cities and towns. Some convenience stores and supermarkets also sell SIM cards, but ensure they’re properly activated at the time of purchase. 2. What you need - Your passport: Moroccan law requires SIM card registration with your passport, so bring it along when making your purchase. 3. Choosing a data plan - After purchasing a SIM card, you’ll need to select a data plan based on your usage. Vendors will assist you in activating the SIM and loading your chosen data package. 4. Topping up - If you run out of data, you can easily top up at convenience stores, official provider shops, or even online.

Question

How would you recommend flying to Morocco?

Answer

Our preferred way of traveling to Morocco is taking a nonstop flight from Dulles to Casablanca through Royal Air Maroc and then taking a car or train to Rabat directly or spending a day or two in Casablanca first. Other options include taking a connecting flight and stopping in Spain, France, Portugal, etc. If you have enough time, you can also take a nonstop flight to Spain, take the train down to Gibraltar, take a 30-minute ferry ride to Tangier, and then from there choose to either spend some time in Tangier or train/drive directly to Rabat.

Question

Should I bring cash?

Answer

While some vendors accept card, cash is much more commonly used in Morocco. We recommend bringing extra cash that you can exchange for Moroccan Dirham. You are also able to make ATM withdrawals at local banks.
