Shortly after moving to LA, I (Tala) was introduced to Kings Road Cafe, a place where Alex had been going to nearly every day for his morning, and sometimes afternoon, coffee for 20 years since he moved to LA from NY. (If you haven't been to Kings Road Cafe, do yourself a favor and go. HIGHLY recommend). I created a new routine when I moved to LA, which was to wake up, drive over to Kings Road, order my Almond milk latte and do work at their communal table. True to Alex's fashion, he would order his coffee, quickly make his social rounds, and be out of the cafe like Houdini. We would occasionally catch glimpses of one another but never formally made an introduction until one day a mutual acquaintance introduced us. We chatted for maybe......5 minutes? before Alex went off to tend to his work and clients. We didn't run into each other for another month. But when we did, it was at Kings Road Cafe again and Alex approached me while I was waiting for my latte and said that we should hangout soon, specifically after he comes back from his trip. He took down my number, said that we'll hangout in 2 weeks when he's back. (For anyone who has dated in a major city, or dated in general, I was skeptical). Fast forward less than 2 weeks later, I receive a message from Houdini myself, following-up to our "soft" plans, which with a few text exchanges turned into a solid date two days later. On October 18, 2017 was when our love story began.
