We met on Halloween in 2019. Tom had spent the evening at a Darden reunion at Dark Horse. When he started to leave he saw Snow White from across the bar. He came up to her in line and asked for her number. She obliged and then went downstairs to enjoy karoake with her best friend, not sure what happened to Tim Tebow who had not been in line. Then moments later, Tom appeared (he got down pretty quickly by some magic), found his Snow White downstairs and bought her a drink. We talked and danced and talked some more. Tabitha said she was a CPA. Tom said he was a CPA too! Tabitha was skeptical, so Tom pulled out his CPA license to prove it (which he carried in his wallet as a ‘second form’). It was a match made in heaven! Little did we know where it would lead us just two years later. 🤍
We work so well as a couple because Tabitha is a planner and Tom likes to have plans, but not make them. Tom planning a special trip to be able to propose would have been a dead give-away. Tabitha planned a weekend glamping trip at Stone Mountain not knowing it would be the location of Tom's proposal. We love hiking at Stone Mountain and usually hike a less traveled trail with beautiful views of the lake and wooded areas around Stone Mountain. About halfway through our hike, we started hiking up the side of Stone Mountain. At the top, there is a beautiful vista overlooking the wooded areas below. The yellow daisies were in bloom and added a bright burst of color every few steps. Tom started to talk about our future together and how great our lives had been since we met. He stopped walking, then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely shocked and surprised, but of course I said yes! After our hike, we had a nice dinner and a celebratory bottle of wine. We went kayaking/paddle boarding the next day and enjoyed one of the last warm Fall days of Georgia weather. It was an unexpected and welcome surprise!
