On an adventure of a lifetime, Michael and Tabby had signed up for an international volunteer trip in Costa Rica. It was here that they first met. They sat in a crowd at orientation as the amazing tour guide gave a speech about how this group would meet lifelong friends, and for even some, potential life partners. Laughing in the crowd, Tabby asked Michael if his feet smelled bad because they were soon to be roommates. Unlike many romances, it wouldn't be defined as love at first sight, but instead love at first conversation about music whilst drinking some rum. After soul searching and finding out the numerous similarities between the two, this random once-in-a lifetime introduction was fated to be something great.
The trip to Scotland was full of hiccups. At the last minute, Tabby decided she wanted to check their bags at the airport. However, what Tabby didn't know, was that sitting on the bottom of Michael's luggage was a small enclosed box, waiting to make her the happiest woman alive. Despite some pushback, Michael and Tabby both checked their luggage and went on their way. Tabby and Michael were in a for an upsetting surprise when the Scottish airport said they not only didn't have their luggage there, but its exact location was unknown. Michael, who usually doesn't care about clothing and materials, seemed awfully anxious. After a few glasses of scotch, and a painful 6 hours, they received their luggage. The adventure began. Many gorgeous hikes into the 9 day vacation, Tabby was getting suspicious, and hopeful. However, after every gorgeous hike that didn't result in a proposal, she was feeling disappointed. As they arrived to Isle of Skye only to find a tropical storm had thwarted their ferry plans, they instead took the long drive around to visit their next destination. It was the morning of March 14th, that they awoke pretty early to go see several Isle of Skye sights, and do some hiking. They arrived at their first stop Old Man Of Storr, and began what felt like a straight upward ascent. Michael who was being a little quiet, was trying to convince Tabby to go boulder with him at the top. Tabby, who was weak on stamina and a little cranky told him to go without her. She instead would self reflect and look over the ocean. After quite a bit of time, Michael came back to find Tabby. She wanted to leave to continue on to the next location. Michael asked for a photograph, and in that exact moment the sun peaked through the storm clouds for the first time in days, illuminating the green pastures and bogs of Scotland. Tabby turned around to find Michael sitting on one knee, and in typical fashion, she slipped and fell, both literally and emotionally. The rest was history.
