In 2020 Sydney lived in Bluffton, South Carolina, and Taton lived in Louisville, Kentucky. The COVID-19 pandemic struck and both of them packed up and moved home, at least temporarily. One weekend Sydney and Taton were both in Jacksonville and found themselves at the same birthday party where they hit it off! A few weeks later Taton helped Sydney make the permanent move from Bluffton to Jacksonville and not too much longer after that they both traveled to Louisville to pack up Taton's apartment and finish moving him to Nahunta. So many terrible things resulted from COVID-19, but Sydney and Taton never would have met at that party in Jacksonvile if it weren't for the pandemic.

Sydney went up to Georgia to surprise Taton for Valentine's Day after she hadn't been able to travel for over a month due to COVID and a car accident. Taton said that Heidi had a Valentine's Day present for Sydney and he asked if she wanted it now or if she wanted to wait till tomorrow. Sydney was confused, what did he mean that Heidi had a present for her? She said now would be fine and Taton motioned towards Heidi's paws where she was cradling a ring box. Sydney opened the box to see a beautiful diamond ring. Completely caught off guard Sydney asked "Are you serious?" to which Taton replied "Heidi wants to know if you'll be her mom?".
