We met for our first date at Steel City Coffeehouse in Phoenixville on December 5th, 2021. Syd had just recently moved to the town, and Kyle had been living in Phoenixville for a few years, but mostly during the Covid-19 pandemic. We talked about our favorite games, about being vegetarian, about our friends and families, and our favorite places to travel. We had so much in common, and we were having such a good time that the we were there until the coffee shop closed, but we wanted to keep things going. Kyle had a book to pick up from the local bookstore so we walked down Bridge Street, and even dropped into Nerd Merch as well. We set up a second date at Kyle's house to play Magic: The Gathering (although Syd wasn't certain it was a date at first because Kyle suggested inviting friends, but Syd asked for it to be just the two of them). At the second date, somehow after playing several rounds of Magic in which Kyle held nothing back and won every game, we shared our first kiss. From those early days, we started seeing each other more and more. Spending time at each other's houses. Kyle meeting Hamlet and gaining his approval. Meeting each other's friends and family. Going on family vacations together. Syd joined Kyle at his brother Brian's wedding (the first of many weddings we'd attend together) and not long after, Kyle moved in with Syd and Hamlet at Valley Road. In the midst of our growing love, Kyle lost his younger brother Shane in a tragic accident. Syd was there by Kyle's side and grieved with his family. In many moments since we have lifted each other up and grown to celebrate love as not just the times when we laugh and smile, but when we cry and reach out to the other for help. Since then, we've grown so much, and started so many new traditions like watching Lord of the Rings on New Year's Eve; Dungeons and Dragons nights (both with friends and just the two of us); going to many shows and concerts; attending annual events like the Dogwood Festival, Blobfest, the Renaissance Faire, and Vegfest; and making regular trips into Phoenixville for town dates and grabbing a drink at Bluebird. In November of 2023, Kyle brought Syd to Cherry Springs, PA for a long weekend. They went to the state park in the middle of the night to star gaze, far away from city lights. Beneath the fullest night sky of stars either of us had ever seen, Kyle proposed, and Syd said yes. At the end of the day, we feel so fortunate to have both managed to find someone who can match our nerdiness and weirdness, to show our favorite things to, to try new things and go to new places, and share all of life together with. We are so excited to get married and spend our lives together. And we are so excited to share our story and this special day with you, our guests.
