Sydney and Julian met the way all people were meeting in the wake of the pandemic -- online. Their story began in August of 2020 and, though it started as virtual, it seemed serendipitous nonetheless. Summer was rapidly coming to an end and work and school responsibilities were beginning to start back up for Sydney and Julian. Both were both exasperated from using different dating apps and, with mounting responsibilities quickly approaching due to the impending start of the school year, both were ready to call it quits and to focus on work and school. Sydney and Julian decided to give the dating apps one more shot with their next match before finally throwing in the towel. The dating app the couple met on, Hinge, prides itself on being “the app designed to be deleted” and little did they know that’s exactly what would happen!

What was supposed to be a one-hour getting-to-know-you call over wine and homemade cocktails, turned into a 6 hours of endless conversation and laughter.

Julian and Sydney hit it off so well virtually, that they decided to meet in person. Thier first official date was at Cattywampus Station for gourmet milkshakes that the two enjoyed together in a local park!

Julian proposed to Sydney on one of their date nights in downtown Lexington. After dinner at Infinity Skybar, Julian convinced Sydney to go checkout the skyline to see the location of a company he was working with for a project for his MBA. The two drove up to the top of Victorian Sqaure Garage and there, with candles, flower petals and the Lexington skyline as a backdrop, Julain popped the question!

On October 5, 2024, Julian and Sydney are excited to tie the knot oversees in a small, intimate ceremony on the beautiful island of Mykonos, Greece!

Following their wedding weekend abroad, Sydney and Julian are excited to celebrate with family and friends at a cocktail party full of love, drinks and dancing on the evening of October, 12, 2024 in Lexington, Kentucky.

HER Sydney was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She left briefly for university, moving to Bowling Green, Kentucky to attend Western Kentucky University. Upon graduation, she moved back to the Lexington area after receving a job offer from a local high school. Sydney currently works as a middle school French teacher for Fayette County Public Schools. Sydney is a huge foodie and loves going to explore new restaurants both in Lexington, and on her travels. HIM Julian was born and raised in Accra, Ghana. After graduating high school, he decided to further his education in the States at Kenyon College. It was Julian's post graduate work at Eastern Kentucky University that brought him to Kentucky. There, he earned a MS in Sports Management and his MBA. Julian currently works for EKU Athletics. In his free time Julian enjoys swimming and geeking out over stadiums and city planning on YouTube. THEM Julian and Sydney both live in Lexington with their beloved dog Savea. The two enjoy traveling and have enjoyed many trips together.
