Braxton and I met while we were students at Baylor University. After finishing a crawfish boil mixer with the Pi Kapp fraternity on campus, I went to visit a friend's apartment because they had found a dog (typical of me, I know). Braxton was coming home from a workout. He was wearing this awful neon t-shirt that I'll never forget. I remember driving home and sending God a prayer, saying "I don't know what you're doing, but you're definitely up to something". Now we are here!
We went to Austin to celebrate our year and a half anniversary. After getting to Austin, we took a little bit of time to decompress from the ride because I-35 is a nightmare sometimes. We got some juice from Juice Land and made our way to Elizabeth Street Café. Lizzy Street is one of our favorite restaurants, and Braxton said because it was a big date, that we could splurge a little, so we got a few appetizers, and the meal was fantastic. As we were leaving, he asked if I wanted to go to the 360 Bridge, and that sounded fun, so I said yes. When we got there, all of the planning Braxton had made was set into motion. We got up to the top of the cliff and he asked me if I wanted to move to a spot that was more tucked away and I said sure, feeling skeptical but completely unaware. We got over to a quieter spot. He pulled me close, gave me a hug, and told me that he loved me. I'll never forget when he prefaced the proposal with "I'm going to ask you the question now". Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was the most special moment of all my life.
After our graduating from Baylor, Sydney is pursuing her Doctorate of Audiology at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans., and with interest in Finance and Economics, Braxton is working for JP Morgan banking in Chicago.
