Our Story

We are two college sweethearts that have found our way from the east to west coast! We met our freshman year at Virginia Tech and became close friends in several classes we shared together. After falling head over heels for one another, our relationship thrived and we grew together as we navigated our undergraduate degrees. Upon graduating, we began the next chapter of our life in LA as Sydney began her career at Accenture and David earned his Master's degree at UCLA. After bopping around in the LA sun for two years, we relocated to the bay area for David's job. We now happily live in SF with our two fluffy cats!

The Proposal

6/12/21

The act of committing to a life together deserves a gesture as grand and beautiful as the woman you love. After graduating from UCLA, my top priority was marrying Sydney. I was eager to propose to her and begin our life together. I knew Sydney wanted a private proposal, but also the ability to celebrate with our families shortly thereafter. COVID lockdowns made planning and arrangements difficult, but the perfect opportunity presented itself on an upcoming family vacation to Tulum where both of our immediate families would be with us (consequently everyone saw the proposal coming). Leading up to the vacation, I arranged a photographer and a private dinner for just two of us at Casa Malca, a beautiful boutique hotel known for its eccentric art and private ocean views. This gave me an excuse to have Sydney looking picture perfect. Upon arriving at Casa Malca, we were greeted by the concierge with cocktails and met the photographer. We then had the VIP experience of our life being paraded around the property; the photographer even went as far as to stop someone else's bridal procession for our photos! Eventually we made our way down the beach to a private overlook where she said yes! I did such a good job on the ring that she grabbed it from me before I could put it on her finger... or maybe I was so caught up in the moment I was frozen! Depends on which of us you ask. We then had the best meal of our life, which featured in part *real* wagyu. Over the following days we were able to rejoice with our families together. Although everyone saw the proposal coming, keeping the proposal details and ring a secret made for an incredible reveal. See you in Cabo!
