Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sarah Switzer and Ted Reidy
Ted's hometown of Washington has a charming historic downtown brimming with great restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, antique stores, etc. We encourage any St. Louis folks or out-of-towners to get out and explore this town found just an hour from downtown St. Louis, and 10 minutes from our wedding site in Marthasville. Sundays can be sleepy here, so if you want to get the full Washington experience, Saturday morning may be the best time to take a stroll downtown.

Washington Farmers' Market

317 West Main Street, Washington, MO 63090
, (636) 239-2715

Take a stroll through Downtown Washington and stop by the local Farmers Market, open Saturday from 8am-1pm!

Washington Riverfront Trail

James W Rennick Riverfront Park, Washington, MO 63090

Enjoy some weekend activity with a walk, run, or bike along the gorgeous Riverfront Trail located in Downtown Washington.

Wimpy's

521 Jefferson Street, Washington, MO 63090

One of Washington's oldest establishments, Wimpy's has got to be the best greasy spoon around. We often try to plan our visits to Washington around their operating hours. They're closed Sunday's, but if you're in town for lunch Saturday, we would highly recommend grabbing a burger at the counter.

Marquarts Landing Inc

300 West Front Street, Washington, MO 63090
, (636) 239-3229

A great bar with great food right across from the railroad with an awesome view of the river. Head here for outdoor seating on a nice day to enjoy their St. Louis-style pizza, toasted ravioli, and maybe even some live music!

Big Boys Grilled Subs and Wings

919 Jefferson Street, Washington, MO 63090

Sarah's favorite food is sandwiches, making Big Boys one of her favorite Washington eateries. So much so that they'll be catering the welcome party. Oh, and did we mention the escape room in the basement?

Big Boys Big Escape Room

919 Jefferson Street, Washington, MO 63090

The aforementioned escape room run by the sandwich moguls of Big Boys. We have not tried it yet, but will someone please let us know how it is?!

Olivino Tasting Bar

120 West Main Street, Washington, MO 63090

Olivino is an olive oil and balsamic shop downtown. They also serve delicious balsamic-infused cocktails and mocktails made with in-house ingredients from their bar at the back of the store.

Cowan's Restaurant

114 Elm Street, Washington, MO 63090

A classic diner downtown with great breakfast options. Home of the mile-high-pie, and especially good for crowds!

Rothschild's Family Restaurant

1026 East Fifth Street, Washington, MO 63090

Another great breakfast spot!

Gary R. Lucy Gallery

231 West Main Street, Washington, MO 63090

The gallery of a local artist.

Vintage Trader

204 Elm Street, Washington, MO 63090

Sarah's favorite antique store in town!

Dairy Delight

723 Jefferson Street, Washington, MO 63090

Home of Ted's all-time favorite soft serve. They also have great burgers and fries. All part of a balanced meal.

Oak & Front | Kitchen + Bar

120 West Front Street, Washington, MO 63090

This downtown spot is a bit more upscale if, for whatever reason, you're not in the mood for burgers.

Andy's Produce 3

14 West Main Street, Washington, MO 63090

Along with fresh produce and seasonal specialties, this spot is great for finding local and artisanal treats.

Neighborhood Reads

401 Lafayette Street, Washington, MO 63090
, (636) 390-9673

Ted would like everyone to know that libraries are free. Nonetheless, check out the local bookstore. It's very cute.

Lake Creek Winery

15088 Boone Monument Road, Marthasville, MO 63357

This winery is close to our venue and has a beautiful hilltop view of the countryside.

Franklin County Country Club

6413 Country Club Road, Washington, MO 63090

We aren't golfers ourselves, but we've heard this nearby course may have some potential for anyone looking to hit the links.

The Alley

7 West Main Street, Washington, MO 63090

The arcade in town is our nephew's favorite place to play. For any parents looking for things to do with their kids, this is your spot. Adults are encouraged to visit as well - the Darts are free (and in case you were wondering, Ted is the darts champion).

Katy Trail Bicycling

Marthasville Trail Head, Marth, MO 63090

The Katy Trail is the country's longest continuous recreational rail trail, and it runs right through Marthasville. It's a popular trail for runners and cyclists. If you are interested in cycling, Revolution Cycles is a bike rental service based in Washington.
