ABBY: On the weekends, I would often take a book (I was in grad school part-time) to read on the treadmill. I think Josh liked my work ethic! I usually noticed Josh there on the weekends (always leg day for him...) and we would often exchange a small polite smile when we crossed paths. One particular day, he was hogging a 50lb bar I was patiently waiting for. Feeling brave I approached him and asked if I could work in to get some bicep curls in (thinking this was funny, it was leg day for me). Next thing I knew we had exchanged phone numbers and scheduled our first date for the following week. I was a couple of moments late and on our second date he scheduled a dinner reservation though told me to be there 30 minutes early. Unaware, I was late (again!) proving to me this just might work out. JOSH: Most weekends I found myself making time for a good workout when the gym was mostly vacant. I paid little attention to anyone as I went about my routine, until one day I noticed someone I hadn’t before. Every week after that I made sure I was there at the same time, looking for Abby even though I knew I was too shy to say hello. Several weeks went by with Abby and I continuing to exchange looks and muted smiles. I think neither of us wanted to appear interested in the other. I had convinced myself there was no way she was single. Finally she broke the silence (she had to establish that she was more courageous early on) approaching me and asking for some weights that we both knew were too heavy. It was a pretty casual opener I must admit. Several smiles and nervous laughs later we had a date for the following week. 4/12/18 was the day. I arrived much before her to allow time for my nerves to settle, hopefully. I must have done something right because before I even came down from the excitement of the first date our second was beginning, 4/21/18. From then on I’ve been fortunate enough to experience the happiest days of my life with many more to follow.
