We met at our very first job, working long 12-hour shifts at a retirement home. What started as simple lunch breaks and passing conversations slowly became the best part of our days. In the middle of busy shifts and long hours, we found comfort in each other’s company without even realizing how much our lives were about to change. Three months after we met, Robert asked me to be his girlfriend — and it felt like the most natural step in the world.
