Question

Will there be a shuttle to the wedding?

Answer

Unfortunately, we were not able to provide a shuttle to and from AWCC for the wedding and reception. Since we are in a more remote location, there were not any good options for shuttle transportation. We are reaching out to everyone who said they would like a shuttle in order to make sure they have transportation to and from the event.

Question

What time should I arrive at the park?

Answer

The ceremony location is about a 0.75 mile walk from the parking lot so you’ll want to arrive at least 30 min before the ceremony begins. We recommend giving yourself plenty of time before the ceremony to enjoy seeing the Alaskan animals like muskox and grizzly bears.

Question

Do I have to pay to enter AWCC?

Answer

All wedding guests get free entry into the park the day of the wedding. The attendants at the front gate will use the guest list to check in wedding guests. You can arrive as early as you like to enjoy the animals and the park before the wedding begins.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

The best option for getting around Alaska is a rental car. It will be the easiest and most convenient choice to get the most of your Alaskan vacation. Other options include the Girdwood shuttle to get around town, Alaska Bus Company provides service between larger cities in southeast Alaska, and the Alaska railroad which travels from Seward up to Fairbanks with stops in between.

Question

Can I get a ride to the airport?

Answer

We created a Google Sheet to help coordinate ride share. We know travel in Alaska can be incredibly difficult because of the lack of public transportation and high rental car costs. If you have an extra spot in your car, we would love if you could offer a ride to another guest. If you need a ride, please post and hopefully someone can help you out. While we will not be monitoring the sheet, please reach out if you have any questions or need help fingering out travel. Jamie (732)567-0359 or Scott (814)706-6907 Scroll to the bottom of “Travel” page and find “Airport Ride Share.”

Question

Is it light out all the time?

Answer

Pretty much! On June 26, the sunrise is 4:23am and sunset is 11:36pm but in between those hours there is still ample sunlight. The more north you go, the more sunlight you’ll get. Most hotels and rentals will have blackout curtains but it’s always a good idea to come prepared with an eye mask if you’re worried about sleep. Due to all the beautiful sunshine, although the northern lights are still active they are not visible in the summer months.

Question

I have dietary restrictions, can I make a special request?

Answer

The reception dinner will be served buffet style featuring a fish and chicken main dish. If these options don’t work for you, please let us know when you RSVP.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Casual attire. Dress for comfort and nice photos. The ceremony is outside and the reception is an indoor/outdoor space with a good amount of walking in between on a dirt/gravel road. AWCC is located at the end of the Turnagain arm so it has been known to get a bit windy in the summer. We recommend comfortable shoes and layers.
