Travel + Accomodations

We can’t wait to celebrate with you in beautiful Carmel, California! Below you’ll find details to help plan your trip, including hotel options, airports, and transportation tips. Not sure where to stay? In Carmel-by-the-Sea, you’ll experience a charming storybook coastal village with walkable streets, boutiques, galleries, and beach access all on foot. If you prefer more of a lively waterfront scene (think marina, harbor views, fresh air, seafood, and waterfront paths) then Monterey might be more of your vibe. As with any travel, we recommend planning early — especially since June is the height of wedding season. ⸻

Travel Note

Transportation

Getting to Carmel from San Francisco or San Jose, you can either rent a car or use a rideshare service. We recommend renting a car and enjoying the scenic drive—consider stopping in Half Moon Bay on your way down, and if you have extra time, exploring Big Sur (just 45 minutes south of Carmel and one of the most breathtaking stretches in California). Rideshares are also available and typically range from $160–$200 one way so sharing a car with other guests is a great option when planning.

Flight

San Francisco International Airport

Carmel is about two hours south of San Francisco. For most East Coast travelers, SFO offers the best selection of direct flights.

Flight

San Jose International Airport

Located about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Carmel, this is another option for guests who prefer a potentially shorter drive. Flight options are more limited than SFO but I've heard it's less chaotic and allegedly has better rental car inventory.

Flight

Monterey Regional Airport

Just 20 minutes from Carmel, this is the closest option by far, though most flights will require a layover. Ideal for those who want the convenience and don't want to drive, or just really love a small-airport baggage claim experience.
