I had the privelege of meeting Yentl through one of the best decisions that our friend Allen ever made. She is kind and soft hearted, I have never met someone as unique, with the most awesome style and the longest hair that you will ever see. Down to earth and always ready to help. We had an instant connection. We have so many interests in common and are always ready to chat about music, decor and series over a glass of wine. I am so privileged to have Yentl as my Maid of Honour, someone that I can always rely on and that is ready to listen and give advice when I need it. An all rounder of fun.

Lerish is een van my oudste vriende. Van die dag wat ons vriende geraak het, het ons vriendskap bestaan uit "laughter & good times". Een van Lerish se vele eienskappe, wat ek ongelooflik baie waardeer, is sy vermoë om mense bymekaar te bring. Iets waarna ek baie opkyk en mis vandat hy Dubai toe getrek het. Lerish baie dankie vir al die positiewe en "amazing" herinneringe wat jy aan my lewe toegevoeg het. Ek kan nie wag om weer saam jou te kuier nie. Vrede. Martinique is one of my best friends from Potch. On a normal Potch evening out at Lerish's place, I met her and instantly knew that she was such a special person. Every time when you see her, she's laughing, it's actually contagious. She is someone that is dedicated and works hard for what she wants. A genuine and resilient person, someone whom I've got so much respect for. She reminds me of my family, with even the smallest things we do for one another to show that we care. I'm privileged to know and have such a humble friend.

Ek het Charles in Gr3 ontmoet toe hy die grootste ou tackle in die hele rugby span. Blywende indrukke. Charles is nederig, ondersteunend en vriendelik. 'n Wenresep vir 'n fantastiese vriend. Ons het goeie vriende geraak toe ons na dieselfde musiek begin luister het. Charles was altyd die “life of the party”. Mense is aangetrokke tot Charles a.g.v sy vriendelike en oop persoonlikheid. Iets wat ek bewonder van Charles is sy vermoë om altyd objektief na 'n situasie te kyk. Mens kan altyd sy advies ter harte neem. Dis altyd lekker om saam hom te kuier, “what you see is what you get”. Mari baby, as everyone knows her. It feels like I've known Mari my whole life. We have shared such amazing experiences and memories together, from our Badplaas holiday together, to Mozambique and Warmbad. We shared our first scuba dive together and what a support system she is, even under water hehe. Probably the most genuine person that I have ever met, she is the definition of "what you see is what you get." She is such a loyal and supportive person, who always has your back. I can't imagine this day without her friendship and support. She is so true to herself and loves the finer things in life i.e amazing food ;) Chaos is rejecting all you have learned, chaos is being yourself.

Allen is een van die interessantste, kreatiefste en talentvolste mense wat ek al ooit ontmoet het. Ons het 'n baie sterk vriendskap opgebou gedurende ons tyd in Potch waar ons saam meganies geswot het. Ons het vir elke toets saam geleer en mekaar deur ons studies gehelp. Een van Allen se vele talente is om baie komplekse probleme te verstaan. Hy het 'n talent en passie vir musiek en dit was altyd 'n hoogte punt vir ons om saam musiek te maak. Allen het my geleer om altyd te doen waarvoor jy lief is. Volg jou hart en streef na geluk. Dankie vir jou vriendskap Allen. Kayls. I'm so glad to know that I am getting a sister. As an only child, this has always been something that I've looked forward to and I feel blessed to have you in my life. I can not imagine this special day without you, your excitement and most beautiful laugh. You are beautiful inside and out :) You're always yourself and ready to have fun, but you are also someone that lives up to the motto of work hard and play hard. We've shared so many wonderful memories together and I feel so privileged that you have unconditionally accepted me from the beginning. We both share a lot of love for Ruvan and I'm so privileged that I'm not only getting a husband and new family but that I am also getting you, a sister. Someone that I can talk to and with whom I've built up a friendship.

Ek en Robert het die voorreg gehad om uit 'n baie "close" familie uit te kom. Van kleins af was ons beste vriende en het ons elke geleentheid aangegryp om tyd saam te spandeer. Toe ek klaar maak met skool het ek saam met Robert in 'n woonstel in getrek. Hy het my met ope arms aanvaar en ons het sommer vinnig deel geraak van mekaar se vriendekringe. Vriende wat ons vandag nog het. Robert is wys en mens kan altyd staatmaak op sy goeie advies. Mens kan baie van Robert leer en iets wat ek nog altyd na opkyk is hoe goed hy is met mense. Hy het baie sterk verhoudings met mense en dien graag as 'n steunpilaar. Robert, dankie vir jou vriendskap, ondersteuning en al die goeie tye. Therese is my saving grace. The one person that I can always rely on, and there has never been someone that has looked after me as well as she has. I think it's mother instinct. She is caring and someone with true warmth, depth and generosity. Sociable in all aspects of life and it truly shows that even though we get older we will never forget to be young at heart, open minded and care free. I respect her for being both tough, and soft hearted. - "I think making friends is not being afraid to look stupid, because everyone wants a friend who is willing to be stupid and fun. If you try and be too cool, it only works in high school. After that, being uncool is a very cool thing to do. So just have fun, and don't worry what other people think of you and people will want to be your friends."

Een van my beste vriende. Van 'n jong ouderdom af het Stean baie intelligensie getoon, was onafhanklik en kon na homself omsien. Ek onthou hoe ons op laerskool in die middae na sy huis toe gestap het en hy vir ons middagetes aanmekaar geslaan het. Op hoërskool het ons ook na sy huis toe gegaan na skool, maar die middagete het verander na kattekwaad. Stean, dankie vir jou vriendskap en ek het werklik baie by jou geleer en doen nogsteeds. Chane is probably the one friend I know who is extremely talented at almost everything. From cooking to DIY to gardening... an encyclopedia of interesting things, facts and advice. A lover of all things amazing like wine, good food and everything beauty related. It feels like you can consult her on literally anything :) With her there is never a dull moment and she knows how to kick-back and be care free. Just being around her generates a sense of comfort and calmness. She is always engaging in acts of kindness, jumping in to help and provide for others. What a gem of a person. I value your friendship, values and amazing personality. You are so open-minded and outspoken. Characteristics which I value deeply and look up to. I can't wait to have a glass of wine and celebrate with you.

Since a very young age my cousin and I were inseparable. Spending every Christmas together on our grandparent's farm. Sharing the excitement of Christmas, running around on the farm, playing with our barbies, dressing up our youngest cousin and even getting up to some mischievous activities. These were just a few of the entertaining things we did. And now being all grown up, she has turned into an amazing woman who is lighthearted, caring, sophisticated and so humorous. Now we are still having fun, drinking wine and catching up over indulging festive foods. You've always been a support system, caring and loving. Always laughing and just being true to yourself.

I remember Michané always telling everyone that when she grows up she wants to be a dog. Well, I love dogs, but she turned out even better, more loyal and humble. Such a beautiful young woman. A young adventurer and creative at heart. I share a lot of mutual interest with her and she is one of the few people who shares my mutual interest for wellness and healthy food. Even though she is all grown up, she is still my little cousin. The youngest whom we dressed up in over sized clothes and dreadful makeup over Christmas every year. Someone I feel very protective about, who has such amazing potential and values. She is a reminder of a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.

Twee "amazing" mense. Ek is trots om hulle my ouma en oupa te noem. Maak nie saak wat gebeur nie, hulle sal altyd positief wees. Ek hoop ter harte dat ek my oupa se gene gekry het. Die feit dat hierdie man nog op die ouderdom van 92 so gesond is, is werklik ongelooflik. Een ding waarna ek ongelooflik baie na opkyk van my ouma is haar positiwiteit. Ek streef daarna om so positief te wees en altyd die goed in alles raak te sien. Almal kan by haar leer. Baie dankie vir al julle liefde en omgee. Ek waardeer dit werklik. Julle huwelik van 63 jaar saam is werklik iets om na op te kyk. "Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow."

As ek aan my oupa dink, dink ek aan "being tough". Ek dink nog altyd my oupa is een van die "coolste" mense in die wêreld. Hy is verantwoordelik vir my passie vir duik en dit is nogsteeds 'n hoogte punt in my jaar as ons saam gaan duik. My oupa se deursettingsvermoë is werklik iets om na op te kyk. Hy is hardwerkend en ek glo dit is hoekom hy so suksesvol is. Dankie vir die voorbeeld wat oupa stel. "Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them, a vision. They have to have skill, but the will must be stronger than the skill."

C.j Langehoven het gese: " om dood te gaan is geen kuns nie, die slegste kry dit reg. Om te lewe is n kuns, want selfs van die beste kry dit nie goed reg nie." My ouma het die kuns van lewe 100% bemeester. Sy het dit baie goed reggekry om te LEWE! Sy was die sterkste, trotste, lojaalste, onselfsugstigste, vrygewigste en goedhartigste mens wat ek geken het, 'n fantastiese voorbeeld. Elke mens het sy eie definisie van sukses. Party meet dit aan geld, maar my definisie van sukses is geluk en waardering. Sy was altyd gelukkig, sy het altyd n glimlag op haar gesig gehad en het elke mens in haar lewe waardeer. My ouma is dus die suksesvolste mens wat ek ken. Ek is baie lief vir ouma, dankie vir alles en ek kan net elke dag bid om meer soos ouma te wees .

Vir beter ouers kon ek nie vra nie. Ek weet almal sê dit, maar mens kan enige iemand vra wat al by ons huis was en hulle sal getuig van die vriendelike, gelukkige en aanvaardende omgewing wat my ouers skep. Baie dankie vir mamma se leiding, liefde en aanvaarding asook advies deur my lewe. Mamma het my geleer om altyd vriendelik te wees, hard te werk en in myself te glo. Met harde werk en goeie menseverhoudings is alles moontlik. (continued on next column)

Baie dankie vir pappa se voorsiening, aanvaarding en karakter. Pappa is werklilk iemand om na op te kyk. Pappa het my geleer om mense te aanvaar vir wie hulle is. Mense te help waar mens kan en om altyd eerlik te wees. Dit is duidelik dat die kombinasie van hierdie twee mense 'n wenresep is. Ek kan net hoop en bid om in julle voetstappe te volg en eendag die liefde, leiding, advies en aanvaarding met Suzanne en ons gesin te deel soos julle met my en Kay-Lee gedoen het. There has never been more considerate individuals than my grandfather and grandmother. Since a young age they have felt like my older parents. I always spent holidays on their farm having the best time a child could have. Watching TV, having Fanta Floats and playing board games with my grandfather. I used all my gran's old magazines to make scrapbooks and we use to go to town on Fridays and I was always spoiled with a chicken burger and lots of snacks. If there was ever people I felt as close to as my parents, it would be my grandparents. Always accepting and loving me, providing me with so many opportunities and help in life that words are just not enough to describe the gratitude and impact they had on my life. I value generosity as a true act of kindness. Wish you were here Oupa.

Two people that I wish I had more time with and that I would've loved to get to know even better. However, I'm grateful to have had the chance to meet them and they were loving and caring. Everyone always tells me how calm and relaxed my grandfather was. I surely can relate to this, it must be genetics. My gran was always helping out everyone at the old age home and giving her time to people who really needed it. Such a beautiful example. People have also said that these two grandparents of mine never struggled to have a good time and spending time with people. Truly being happy and having fun really is what life is all about. Your passing also taught me that we should all be grateful and spend time with the people we love. As life can change in an instant. I wish you were here.

My mom, my sister and my best friend. My mom is by far the person who has loved and accepted me unconditionally. I will never have enough words to describe how much I appreciate her. We have experienced so many journeys together as I was growing up and she has instilled values of unconditional love, kindness and strength in me. She is supportive like a mother, always ready to chat about girl stuff like a sister and to have fun and have a glass of wine like a friend.
