Danish Wedding Traditions

The Wedding Website of Susanna Mogensen and Dallin Garner
Since Susie comes from Denmark, we have decided to incorporate some cute Danish wedding traditions into our wedding celebration! Feel free to take part in as many as you would like! The wedding tradition says that a "gate of honor" must be built of spruce, which must be decorated with flowers and set up in front of the bride and groom's door. In our case we have chosen to have one at the entrance of the reception. Today, it is very common to build such for anniversaries! When the guests stomp on the floor, the bride and groom must crawl under the table and kiss. If the guests bang their cutlery against the plates during the wedding dinner, the couple must stand on their chairs and kiss. After the first dance, it is tradition that the groom is lifted by the male guests and the socks are cut. This means that the groom no longer needs to impress other girls because now he has found the girl to fix his socks. Traditionally she will repair the socks and return them to her husband.
