They say you find love when you are least expecting it…and we can both agree on that, as neither one of us imagined to find our future spouse at a nursing home: Vautrin was working at a job that specialized in the care of individuals with developmental disabilities. He was bringing one of his clients to a local nursing home, to develop work skills though volunteering. Susan so happened to work at this same nursing home as a speech-language pathologist. One day one of Susan's residents wandered into the activity room where Vautrin was working with one of his clients. Susan was trying to redirect her resident away from the freshly baked cookies (although in reality she was perfectly fine for an opportunity to talk to Vautrin). As Vautrin and Susan started to talk, they realized they had attended the same high school and knew of each other's families. In fact, Susan and Vautrin had actually met each other many years before as children, when their mothers were in bible study together. Susan shared this revelation with Vautrin's older sister, Sarah, who also worked at the nursing home. Sarah, being a typical older sister, started talking about how great of a man her brother was and that he needed to find a good woman to settle down with. Sarah asked Susan if she had any single female friends in mind, to which Susan meekly raised her hand and volunteered as tribute. Sarah promptly gave Susan’s phone number to Vautrin, and she can now successfully mark this as the second sibling she has set up. This is just the beginning of our story. God has truly blessed us through the love and joy we have found in each other. As we prepare to begin our lives together, we hope to be able to share some of that joy with you!
