The town of Cazenovia is beautiful but very quiet. Too quiet. Things close quite early. With one exception: we recommend the Brae Loch Inn (https://www.braelochinn.com), a rococo Scottish mansion–castle that serves decent food, sports a wide range of weird Scottish knicknacks (lots of photos of old men with three-foot beards playing golf), and offers a deep and affordable menu of—wait for it—Scotch!
The Nelson Swamp Unique Area is beautiful! We recommend that you walk the beginner-friendly hiking loop any time it's not too buggy (before late afternoon/dusk). Check out the honeysuckle!
Our local brewery, SingleCut, just opened a taproom in an old barn right next to the venue! Folks, you can't make this stuff up. Is it kismet? Who knows! But if you like well-made, decently priced beer and want to sit in or near a big old barn, this is the spot for you.
We couldn't actually get into the park when we visited, because they shut down the entrance for a makeover. That said, the area is beautiful, so we assume the local waterfall is dope, too. According to the website, it's a 167-footer that involved "glacial sculpting." Glacial-anything, count me in!
