First comes a wedding, then comes dating...that's how it all started for us, at least. We began dating thanks to the wedding of Trey and Peggy Harris. Andrew reached out to one of our mutual friends, Sarah Katherine Jacobs, to feel out the idea of asking me to be his date to the wedding and what his chances were of me agreeing. Luckily, Sarah Katherine knew me well enough to say yes and to immediately call me afterwards to fill me in. Later that night, Andrew called to ask and without hesitation, I accepted the invitation. We had our first official date on January, 9th at Cantina 18 in Cameron Village and our second date that weekend at the wedding. There was no denying there was an instant connection between us and it has truly been history ever since.

Andrew decided to make it official at the 13th Annual Christmas Tower Lighting in the American Tobacco Warehouse District in downtown Durham, NC. After spending the evening listening to live entertainment and music, enjoying the Christmas lights and watching the towering lighting, we decided to ask some fellow bystanders to take our picture. As the pictures were being taken, Andrew turned to me and popped the question. Without question, I agreed. Well, actually I asked, “REALLY??” and then immediately replied, “YES!” Following the proposal and calling our parents to share the news, we had dinner at one of our favorite spots, Mateo, and spent the remainder of the night being happily engaged in our favorite city. The best part is, this was only the beginning of a week-long celebratory vacation that was conveniently already planned. The following day, Saturday, we attended my family’s annual oyster roast in my hometown and celebrated with 30+ of my family members. Last, but definitely not least, we hopped on a plane and headed down to Mexico for the remainder of the week to relax and celebrate before the wedding planning began!
