It goes way back. Like, the early 2000s way back. Sam and Summer's moms both worked together at the Farm Service Agency in Morgantown, WV, where they quickly became best friends. That friendship turned into Sam and Summer spending summers together playing at their moms’ office building and days spent at Kennywood in Pennsylvania with their siblings Tonya and Dallas. Summer's oldest sister, Brittany, would come to babysit Sam and his siblings, further solidifying the connections between their two families. However, in 2007, Sam's family had moved to Emmitsburg, MD, putting nearly 3 hours of distance between their families. Their parents continued to stay in contact, attending several concerts and vacations throughout the years. Sam and Summer had also been on several vacations together to the Outer Banks with their families. In June of 2024, fresh into her retirement, Summer's mom had asked her if she would like to go to the beach with Sam's family. It was immediately following this beach trip that sparked the flame between Summer and Sam to what it is today. They spent that summer traveling back and forth between Morgantown and Emmitsburg, going on several trips to DC, back to the Outer Banks, and everywhere in between. Following Sam's masters graduation in December, he moved to Morgantown with Summer. On May 5th, Sam took Summer on a walk through Snake Hill Wildlife Reserve, where he proposed on a rocky overlook, overlooking the Cheat River, Raven's Rock and Coopers Rock State Park. They are planning a wedding in front of Seneca Rocks in the Monongahela National Forest on July 18, 2026 surrounded by friends and family.
