Jen and Stuart met in Las Vegas in the summer of 2014 through Jen's eldest sister, Anna.
After ignoring Anna's messages to add Stuart on Facebook.... Jen received a friend request from Stuart. Jen was the first to send a message stating "Hey, how are you?" and Stuart responded back with "Good. Anna said you're bored." ( =_= ) Jen and Stuart continued to chat with each other for the next few days until Stuart asked her out to watch Big Hero 6 & eat dinner.
After spending every weekend together, Stuart confessed his feelings for Jen. He never officially asked Jen to be his girlfriend, so they decided that their anniversary would be on the confession date.
Stuart was living in Santa Monica and Jen was living in Los Angeles. During summer of 2016, Jen landed a paid internship position at the City of Santa Monica and decided to temporarily live with Stuart. This was the time when Jen learned that Stuart is a bit of an alcoholic and Stuart learned that Jen is an ultra dessert-holic.
After graduating and finishing up an internship, Jen received a job offer for her dream career. However, the position was located in Pismo Beach, California (200 miles away from home). After a short deliberation, Jen and Stuart decided it was best to have a long distance relationship so that Jen can pursue her dream. Although Jen moved away from Stuart, they video-chatted with each other every night and Jen drove to SoCal to visit every weekend.
After months of being in a long distance relationship, Stuart decided to move in with Jen to find a job closer to her.
Jen & Stuart went on a 2 week vacation to explore Japan. On one of the days in Kyoto, Jen absolutely wanted to do the Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine hike at 7am to beat the crowds. The hike to the top took 2 hours and Stuart made Jen sit for awhile so she could catch her breath before walking back down. Stuart then got up and went to ask an older couple nearby to take a "picture" of them. As they were about to take the picture, Stuart pushed Jen away, got down on one knee, and finally proposed! It turned out that Stuart had discreetly asked the couple to video record the proposal while pretending to take a picture.
