Virginia, childhood homes to both of us, provides picturesque mountains, sandy beaches and historic cities in each direction. Richmond: also known as RVA, is quaint little city nestled along the James River with plenty to do. Washington, DC: 2.5 hour drive north of RVA, you will find the nation’s capital. The National Mall, Spy Museum, the Wharf and free Smithsonian Institutions are some places to visit. This is where we currently call home. Shenandoah National Park: 1 hour drive west of RVA is Virginia's only National Park with plenty of hiking trails and fall foliage. Virginia Beach: 1.5 hour drive east of RVA is coastal city where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. A 3-mile boardwalk stretches along its beach-lined oceanfront.
