Question

COVID FAQ- Do I need to wear a mask?

Answer

We will be following state & venue guidelines- currently masks are required when indoors (i.e. walking to the bar or restroom), but not when sitting at your table or outside.

Question

COVID FAQ- Testing & Vaccines

Answer

Massachusetts travel & gathering guidelines state that guests need to either be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 OR provide negative test results within 72 hours of the event**. Our venue will be enforcing these guidelines until further notice. **This means if you are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 you do not need to be tested prior to the event.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Cocktail attire, please. Cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, slacks and suit coats. But we want you to feel comfortable, so feel free to unbutton that top button after the ceremony! Please keep in mind we are on a farm so you will encounter gravel, wood floors, grass and a stone courtyard. It is breezy on the farm, after the sun goes down you will likely want a suit jacket or wrap.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says "and Guest", yes, if not, then we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Question

What time should I arrive at Valley View Farm?

Answer

Please arrive at 3:30 pm to have plenty of time to find your seat and relax before the ceremony begins!

Question

What if I want to get to Valley View Farm early?

Answer

The Sugar House is a bar/lounge on property and will be open beginning at 2:30pm for folks who arrive early.

Question

What is a Chuppah?

Answer

The wedding itself takes place under the chuppah, a wedding arbor that is symbolic of the home Steph & Josh will build together. The chuppah has no walls; the marriage begins with just a roof, Steph & Josh will build the walls with love and friendship, based on a foundation of respect and trust. The chuppah is open on all sides so that family and friends will always feel welcome.

Question

What is a Ketubah?

Answer

The ketubah is a Jewish marriage document. It was traditionally a revolutionary concept, protecting the bride's rights and obligating the husband to look out for her welfare. Today, the ketubah reflects the equality of bride and groom and reflects their mutual obligations to each other.

Question

Why do you smash a glass?

Answer

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Josh will step on a glass and break it! This ancient practice has many interpretations. One of the most traditional is that it reminds us of the destruction of the holy temple in Jerusalem and the many losses that have been suffered by the Jewish people. Another explanation is that love, like glass, is very fragile and must be protected because, once broken, it is hard to put back together again. A more contemporary interpretation is that the sound travels through time and space to share their joy with all who have loved them, both those who are separated by distance and those separated by time. When Josh smashes the glass, many guests will shout ‘Mazel Tov!’ (this means congratulations), feel free to join in!
