Steph & Josh met through the magical workings of the internet and Match.com! She was clicking through and came across Josh's profile, and just had to message him (that's right, Steph made the first move). Josh was actually in the middle of cancelling his subscription to Match.com when he received Steph's message! After chatting for a bit, Steph & Josh planned their first date on August 1st, 2017 at 42* North, a restaurant in Manomet that both the Striar & Woerdeman families frequented. Little known fact about their first date, instead of shaking her hand or hugging her hello, Josh kissed Steph as soon as he saw her in the 42* North parking lot! After laughing their way through dinner, Steph & Josh went to the beach to watch the sunset and grabbed ice cream at Gellar's. They often tease each other about how like an America's Hometown movie their first date was. On their way home from their first date, they each called their respective best friends to rave about how much fun they both had. Steph and Josh both swear they both even said "I think I just met the one I’m going to marry".

Proposals are always daunting, emotional events. Josh is awful at keeping secrets, especially from Steph, so trying to plan how he would propose was challenging. Josh being old fashioned asked her parents, Brian and Lynne, in early December 2018 for their blessing to marry Steffi. He sat at the island in the kitchen, and he asked "Mom, can I talk to you and Dad about something? Not sure I'm going to have another chance alone with you two like this for awhile." Her mother immediately knew, gave him the biggest hug, her father smiled, shook his hand and said, "Welcome to the family! Also, she doesn't come with a receipt,” and the three of them cracked up. Steph came downstairs a few minutes later and they all pretended to have been discussing the weather. Steph, being the mega sleuth that she is, suspected she should dress extra adorably on their upcoming trip and scheduled a manicure. Josh and Steph always vacationed in New Hampshire for New Years, so he thought it would be the perfect opportunity. It was a surprisingly warm December day, and they decided to go for a hike through the Sandown Town Forest. Trying to find the perfect moment was difficult and Josh was nervous, eventually they came to a clearing with a bench. Steph just happened to need to stop to fix her sock in her boot and sat down. Josh thought, "this is it, this is the right moment!" Kneeling, Steph thought Josh was helping her with her stuck on boot, and scoffed at him that he was kneeling in a wet spot on the grass, but she looked up Josh had out a ring. Before he could finish "I love you" she jumped off the bench and yelled "YES!" and nearly knocked him over with a kiss.

Our wedding was wonderful and so many people helped our oceanside minimony happen. It was perfectly us, with so much laughter, technology glitches and pizza. Oakley even managed to sneak his way onto our Zoom ceremony 😂 We are beyond grateful to have such supportive family and friends who all organized their little hearts out and cheered us on as we navigated the cluster of 2020.
