We were both visiting friends in Dallas, Texas for a short weekend - Friday evening through Sunday morning. Jacqueline had been in front of Alex in the security line on the way to Dallas. Because Jacqueline’s bag went through the x-ray machine multiple times, she had time to notice how cute Alex was. We didn’t talk or see each other at the gate after that or on the flight to Dallas Love Field airport. On the flight back to San Diego, Alex thought he had secured a spot with an open middle seat next to him. Little did he know, Jacqueline would come running onto the flight moments before the doors closed. Alex says the seat next to him was the only seat left on the plane; Jacqueline thinks otherwise. Either way, Jacqueline sat in the middle seat next to Alex. Not wanting to talk to anyone in his post-weekend state, Alex immediately put on his over-the-ear, noise-cancelling headphones and started watching a soccer game. Never one to take a hint well, Jacqueline leaned over, tapped Alex on the shoulder, and used the classic line, “Do I know you from somewhere?” (Jacqueline knew exactly how she knew Alex.) We spent the entire flight talking about our weekend in Dallas, including the places we both went but never saw each other, our hobbies, and our travel stories and plans. When we landed, Jacqueline suggested sharing an Uber back to Pacific Beach where we both lived (only three blocks away from each other!). When the car dropped Alex at his house, he asked for Jacqueline’s number and suggested we go on a run sometime ... which we did at 5 am on our second date.
