How We Met

24.5.2014

Naturally, we first met while drinking and having a good time. To keep it short and simple - Jess spotted a nice looking guy in a bow tie smiling at her from across the room at a Woden Blues FC event. She later made the brave move to the bar to say, "hello". Since the day we met, there have been a lot of people claiming they are responsible for "getting us together." It's still up for debate today - but we put it down to Jess' courage in approaching Matt at the bar. Sorry Jodie, Starky & JC... But hats off to Schicken for capturing our first kiss!

The Proposal

19.1.19

Having survived a trip through Europe with Jess and her family (with ease) I thought, "now is the time I ought to drop the knee". After having the ring made and in my possession, I didn't trust myself enough to hold onto it for too long as it might find it's way into the depths of my undies drawer. With all our trips back to Newlyn where Jess grew up and with Michael there to ask for permission, I thought what better place to propose. After a few beers to give me dutch courage and permission from Michael, it didn't take me long to get Jess alone. I asked if she could come with me to help with a job I forgot to do for Michael. Once alone and although trembling, I managed to get out of the car, pull the ring out of my pocket and got down on one knee. I will never forget Jess' reaction!

Mr & Mrs Smith - Part 1

24.3.20

The lead up to our wedding wasn't quite what we had planned as you will all know! Due to COVID-19 restrictions changing literally the Monday before our wedding we had to make the devastating decision to pull the pin on our wedding plans - this was after going from Plan A to Plan Z in the weeks prior. We were super lucky to be surrounded by our amazing family and vendors as we all banded together to ensure we could still become Mr & Mrs Smith on Tuesday the 24th of March 2020. It means the absolute world to us to have our Part 2. We want nothing more than to stand before all of our loved ones and celebrate us. This continues to challenge us but we are strong in our belief that love, family and fun times will win out in the end! We can't wait to hug and dance and laugh with you all on our second big day!
