Second semester of junior year of high school we had U.S. History together. We sat on opposite sides of the class where he was on the quiet kids side and I sat around some friends I knew in the class. About three weeks into the class our teacher moved my side around some as we were all talking to much and such and I happened to get placed beside my now fiancé. Everyday going into the classroom before we got placed next to another he would always stop what he was doing and either just look at me while I walked to my seat or smile and do the same. At first I thought it was weird and unsure why he was always looking at me while waiting for me to respond back. Later I came to find from him it was because he thought I was cute. After four days of sitting next to each other we F I N A L L Y talked for the first time and hit it off immediately. From there on it was constant jokes, laughs, stories he would write me, and helping me getting a better grade in the class. Once May hit and our class was coming to an end we decided to start hanging out outside of school and officially started dating and the rest is well...history. Get it ?!
We got E N G A G E D, September 7th of 2020! At the start of the day, I figured we were having a full on family day. As I was getting ready Travis walked into the bedroom and told me he was dropping Jensen (our son) off at his dad’s house for the day. He mentioned where we were going might not be the best toddler area. He was correct. Finished getting dressed and he got back to the house and we headed off on the adventure of the day. I was super excited to see where we were going and was asked if I had an idea. I took a random guess, ( the place I was hoping and dying to go to), which was going to the top of Pikes Peak. Since moving to Colorado that was one of my goals and he made it happen. He said with a big smile I was correct and I was bursting with squeals and excitement !! Fast forward to getting there and taking the BEAUTIFUL drive up almost the whole way (before the shuttle) and was inlove. Travis is beyond terrified of heights and managed to fight the fear to make this happen! We got to the second and last parking lot and decided to climb some of the rocks and get some photos (obviously..if you know me). After getting some of me he sat his phone on a rock acting as if he was trying to take a photo of us and I recommended flipping it so we could see ourselves and the self timer. THEN...he acted as if he was doing just that and placed it on video instead and turned around to look at me with the biggest smile and pulled out the blue box that held my special ring, kneeled down on one knee, grabbed my hand and told me how much he loved me and asked me the question my heart had been waiting so long for. Of course I said YESSS while jumping up and down. We got a few photos and then headed down to the shuttle line and went to the top, which is 14,115ft. and enjoyed some time up on top of the world it felt like. Afterwards, we got dinner at our new fav restaurant, got some cake & champagne, picked up J & then spent the night watching a funny movie & snacking!
