Syretta is Hayley's best friend from graduate school. Syretta and Hayley met at orientation during the first weeks of being in Pennsylvania and bonded over their shared Big Ten experiences (Hayley at Michigan State, Syretta at U of M) The two survived Villanova's College of Arts and Letters together by the skin of their teeth. :) They were basically inseparable from the moment they met and they try to keep in touch as much as possible even though they are separated by several hundred miles.
