Carter's Bridge Fishing Access Site - swimming

Fishing access site along the Yellowstone River is a popular area for swimming and fishing, offering a combination of rocky/sandy banks. There is a boat ramp that can be very busy, but you can walk under the bridge to the sand bar on the other side for swimming away from the boat ramp.

Jim Posewitz Fishing Access Site (formerly free river)

Just south of town, a short walk through a meadow brings you to a sandbar along the Yellowstone River great for swimming. This is a family-friendly spot without a boat ramp.

9th Street Bridge Swimming Area

An in-town location, this sandbar is along a side channel of the Yellowstone River and is a quick walk to Sacagawea Park. The water is knee to waist deep throughout most of the channel with a few deeper holes. The shallow water keeps the water temp a bit warmer and has a much calmer current. Access next to the bridge adjacent to the 9th street park located at the intersection of south 9th Street and River Drive in Livingston.

Sacagawea Park Playground

Large riverside park with a large grassy area and wooden playground space.

Splash Pad/ G street/ Mark Webb Park/playground

Splash Park with water features great for kids to cool off on a hot day. Features an adjacent playground.

Livingston Peak Hike

7.5-mile hike, close to town, significant elevation gain over a short distance can make this trail a bit challenging.

Pine creek Falls/ Pine Creek Lake

A Park County favorite, 2.5 miles round trip to a large waterfall with a small amount of elevation gain (great option for kids). Continue on to Pine Creek Lake, a large alpine lake with a moderately challenging hike. 10 miles round trip with 3600ft of elevation gain.

Passage Creek Falls

A 5 mile out and back trail along passage creek culminating in passage falls. A moderate hike with little elevation gain

West Boulder Meadows

A moderate hike along the west fork of the boulder river. This can be made as long as you desire however it is 6 miles round trip to the west boulder meadows, a stunning series of open meadows where the river slows smooths out into a flat valley offering impressive views of the surrounding mountains. A great spot to throw out a line.

South Fork of Deep Creek

Just south of town, this is a popular, moderate out and back trail that follows the creek into the Absaroka Mountains offering great views of Paradise Valley.

Suce Creek

Also, just south of town, this popular trail offers a 6-mile loop occasionally crisscrossing the creek offering meadows with occasional views of Paradise Valley. Elevation gain is about 1400 feet.
