We were introduced by our mutual friend Lesmarie at her annual Superb Owl (or Superbowl for the football fans) party! We had briefly met at a previous get together of hers, but I mistook his flirting for friendly conversation. After asking me if I was currently interested in dating anyone, she planned to set us up on a date and had everyone but me in on the plan; Steve and the rest of the guests arranged themselves so that the only seat left open for me was next to Steve, ensuring we could chat and joke all evening. When I still wasn't getting the hint at the end of the game, Lesmarie stepped in and told me she found a great match for me: "Turn to your left. This is Steve, you've been laughing at his jokes all night and I told him to wear nice shoes!" -Julie My best friend Nick had attempted to introduce us first at their Friendsgiving event, but due to family obligations, I was unable to attend. His next attempt was at their annual Forcestock Movies on the Lawn gathering. I had intended to attend (I had never missed one since they started having them), but had discovered that my car had 2 flat tires as I was preparing to go. After dealing with the flats, I decided that I had no desire to drive over. When I called Nick to tell him I wasn't coming, he told me Julie had just arrived, to which I said, "I'll be right over!" Considering the day I had had and the alcohol I had drunk to attempt to forget about it, it's not surprising that my attempts at flirting were mistaken for anything but. Our official introduction was quite comical. Nick and Lesmarie had arranged it so that Julie and I would be sitting next to each other during their annual "Superb Owl" Party. Julie and I really didn't speak much throughout the evening, but I was having quite a laugh as she and one of her other friends were looking through numerous Bumble postings and I was listening to them rate, rank and discuss them. Thankfully she hadn't found anyone interesting by the end of the night. Lesmarie then proposed a contest to Julie's other friend for who could find Julie a date faster. Lesmarie then looked at Julie and asked if she was doing anything the next weekend. She looked at me and asked the same question. Both of us having responded in the negative, Lesmarie then announced, "Great! We're all going to Disney next weekend!" -Steve
Our first date was with a group of friends at Disney World, where we spent the day at Magic Kingdom and ended with a carousel ride and watching the fireworks before going out to dinner. We went back to the park for our 4 year anniversary where he asked me to marry him! We stopped for pictures in front of the castle and the photographer helped him out; she had me posing for a few photos facing away from Steve while he got ready and told me to turn around once he was on one knee. Afterward we were reminiscing about our first date and realized we hadn't rode the carousel since, so naturally we ended the night by riding it again! -Julie
