Luis Osuna-LeonLuis Osuna-Leon

Groomsman

I am Luis, and I've had the pleasure of knowing Gilberto before anyone else. That means even before our first breath, we were partners in crime. From the start, we devised a master plan for total WORLD DOMINATION. It may sound hard for the average person but with Gilberto on my team, I knew we had it handled. My twin brother is an exceptional partner—resilient and determined to accomplish any goal. My job is mostly to sit back and relax while he does all of the work. And then entered Steven…a potential wrench in our plans. Or so I thought. Instead, Steven perfectly complements Gilberto. The word that people often use to describe Steven is “Smart” but my favorite quality is his curiosity—always reading or talking about something new. So, I suppose Steven can join our team. After all, we’ll need a dedicated servant once we take over the world. In all seriousness, it has been my joy to watch these two grow as a couple. I’ll always treasure our road trips to California and the times Gilberto and I crushed Steven in Smash Bros. It is an incredible honor to stand by my brother Gilberto, as he steps into this new chapter with this amazing man by his side.

Rodolfo Osuna-LeonRodolfo Osuna-Leon

Groomsman

My name is Rodolfo Osuna Leon, and I am proud to be Gilberto’s older brother. Being ten years older means I’ve known him since before he even came into this world, and I’ve had the privilege of watching him grow into the person he is today. Despite the age difference, we’ve always shared a close bond, and I’ve done my best to be there for him every step of the way. I work as a medical interpreter with UW Health hospitals and clinics, and it means a lot to me that Gilberto is pursuing a career in the medical field as well. When he moved out of state to begin medical school, I was glad to support him—whether that meant helping him get settled, traveling with him and my family, or making sure he had what he needed, like a laptop to start this new chapter. As a family, we’ve shared so many great memories together, from traveling and camping to playing video games. I always feel proud when people from our community speak so highly of Gilberto—it reminds me of the kind, hardworking person he has always been. From the moment I met Steve, I knew he was a great match for my brother. He’s respectful, funny, and has truly become part of our family. We all love him—and honestly, even our dogs, Splash and Troy, might love him more than they love us (jaja). I couldn’t be happier to celebrate their love and welcome Steve into our family.

Ana Maria ViteriAna Maria Viteri

Groomswoman

I am so honored to stand as a groomswoman for one of my best friends, Gilberto. We met back in 2018 at UW–Madison as pre-med students and members of the PALMA pre-med organization, and from that moment on, our friendship took root. Since then, we’ve shared countless milestones: laughing our way through statistics, singing nonstop to Alicia Keys on road trips to medical conferences, and supporting one another through both our successes and the challenges of the journey toward becoming physicians. Our friendship is truly captured by “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, forged through laughter, tears, vulnerability, and unwavering support. I couldn’t be more excited to stand by your side as you say “I do.”

Trinidad Alcala-ArcosTrinidad Alcala-Arcos

Groomswoman

I’m Trini, and I first met Gilberto online when I nervously messaged him on Instagram after hearing he’d been accepted to PRIME-LC. His response made me giddy—it was love at first virtual sight. When we met in person, that connection only deepened as we shared our stories, challenges, and dreams for ourselves and our families. We’ve supported each other through countless medical school milestones. One of my favorite memories is when he agreed to accompany me to a pathology lecture I was nervous to attend—only for my tire to pop before we even left his apartment. Instead of crying, I laughed because Gil, as always, made light of the situation. That was the end of our plan to be “good medical students.” I’m so grateful to celebrate this next chapter with him and Steve, and I can’t wait to make many more memories, play countless board games, and reach new milestones.

Karlos Manzanarez FelixKarlos Manzanarez Felix

Groomsman

I have had the pleasure of knowing Gilberto and Steve for the last 5 years. I met Gil first on our first day of medical school which led to hangouts and even the formation of the infamous “inner circle”. Since then Gil has supported me through many moments in school and life whether he’s checking in about how things are going or just to hang out and watch outrageous clips of Americas got talent. I appreciate that Gilberto has been a constant source of support and understanding of my struggles since I’ve met him. He later introduced me to his partner Steven (aka my greatest opp). Steve is honestly one of the smartest people I’ve met. From creating his own trivia (which I scored 3/20) to him being a California lawyer he is an inspiration to us med students. Every time we hang out brings another adventures with both of them! I’m excited for the future hangouts and board games that Steve will inevitably beat us at! I’m glad that I get to have y’all as some of my closest friends, love ya both!

Jonathan PicosJonathan Picos

Groomsman

I’m Jonathan Picos, and I’ve known Gilberto since the very first day of medical school at UC Irvine. From going through PRIME-LC together to leading LMSA side by side, being roommates, surviving countless study sessions, and even co-owning a cat at one point, we’ve done a bit of it all. There were plenty of long days, unforgettable nights, and a whole lot of laughter along the way. As a fellow Sinaloense, it’s been especially meaningful to share this journey with someone who feels like family. I’m incredibly proud of Gil and so excited to see the amazing things ahead for him and Steven. It’s an absolute honor to stand by their side and celebrate such a beautiful next chapter.

Cindy FloresCindy Flores

Groomswoman

Hi! I’m Cindy and I have had the honor of knowing Gilberto since starting medical school back in 2021. Gil is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people that I have had the pleasure of knowing over the last 5 years. It has truly been amazing to see him blossom into the compassionate physician that he will be very soon! We have bonded over our shared love of running, community, and enjoying each other’s shenanigans. He has been a beacon of light through the dark force that can sometimes be med school. Gil’s friendship also graciously introduced me to Steven, who is a delightful bundle of quirky humor and geniality. I can’t wait to celebrate the love of these two lovebirds!

Luciano ZunigaLuciano Zuniga

Groomsman

I’m Luci, one of Gil’s more recent friends. Gil and I met during his short but impactful time in the Bay Area. We bonded immediately through so many shared experiences from our identities, passion for public health (go bears!), our love for running despite both getting injured preparing for our races, and the ways we value community. Safe to say the universe had a way of bringing us together. It has been such a joy to see the love between Gil and Steven, and an even bigger honor to be part of their celebration.

Clark GastonClark Gaston

Groomsman

Steven’s oldest brother, who recently got married in an attempt to upstage this wedding. In childhood Clark trounced his younger brothers in video games, both by being better and always choosing the most overpowered characters. From Clark stems Steven’s longstanding hatred of televised sports—when Steven could have been rewatching SpongeBob, Clark insisted on watching sportsball instead. Clark’s love of the outdoors and Quiz Bowl did rub off on Steven however, and as adults they’ve put aside their differences and now bond over their mutual love of birds and birding.

Andrew GastonAndrew Gaston

Groomsman

Steven’s middlest brother. They spent an inordinate amount of time together as children out in the wilds of Florida and Michigan, allegedly discovering new species of jellyfish, crabs, and salamanders. Steven’s scrappy nature was unlocked in the frozen wastelands of Michigan, as he battled for his life in snowball fights and sledding races against Andrew. Steven gets his absurdist humor and penchant for doling out nicknames from Andrew as well. When Steven and Gil are home for the holidays Andrew insists that they watch horror movies at ungodly hours of the night, much to the chagrin of Cathy and Eric.

Duncan KummerDuncan Kummer

Groomsman

Steven and Duncan met as teammates on the “Silver Sharks” soccer team in 4th Grade, which went undefeated due in some part to Duncan and no part to Steven. They became close in middle school, designing abominations in Spore and suffering through band together. Duncan was the first of Steven’s friends to indulge his obsession with lemurs by helping create the first Lemuria game, a world-renowned point-and-click adventure that was extremely off-topic from what their teacher had assigned. In eighth grade Steven and Duncan rose to power as President and Vice President respectively of their history class, but failed to convince the legislature to pass a progressive marginal income tax. Duncan has recently left his software developer job to pursue his music career full time with bands Yada Yada and Speed Therapy (which has Kenny as lead vocalist).

James WorthingtonJames Worthington

Groomsman

In middle school Steven heard whispers of a mysterious figure, frequently suggested as a counterexample to the claim that Steven was the smartest person in their grade. What could have turned into a bitter academic rivalry ended up being a beautiful friendship, which commenced when James offered Steven homemade pizza bread as a reprieve from his horrid Lunchables. They were the driving forces behind the creation of “the 9,” a highly classified and exclusive organization to which they enlisted only two more members - Kenny and Duncan. When they weren’t quiz bowling, chess clubbing, or Mario Karting, they were writing slanderous yellow journalism in their weekly newspapers for the 9—the Zebu Zeitung and Wenterworth Weekly. In the end, James bested Steven in the race for Valedictorian, which Steven still hasn’t recovered from.

Kenny BehmerKenny Behmer

Groomsman

Kenny, who was inexplicably dubbed “Chem” by Steven, was one of his most steadfast friends through middle and high school. Kenny’s home was the summer capital of the 9, with its pool and expansive backyard for playing sports or filming elaborate videos for Spanish class. Kenny was the main impetus behind Steven working as a camp counselor at Varsity Day Camp, where Kenny was widely viewed as one of the most competent turtle catchers. However, Kenny had the unenviable position of being the worst at Smash Bros among their friend group, and the fact that he still played with them for hours without complaint really speaks to his character. Along with James and Duncan, Kenny went to the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. They now all live together in Chicago, and their house is always a fun getaway for Steven and Gil when visiting family.

Jess ChenJess Chen

Groomswoman

Jess met someone she thought was named Mike on the Duke Quiz Bowl team, who later turned out to be Steven. One fateful night their first semester of college Jess invited Steven to send anonymous notes to other first years on the team. Due to Steven’s malevolent influence, these notes ended up being too harsh, and in the course of their apology tour the Tetrarchy was formed, consisting of Lucian, Jess, Cooper, and Steven. While rooming together Sophomore year, Steven and Jess created an art installation in their living room entitled “Stacked Amazon Boxes (2017)” and this later inspired Jess to pursue a career in art history, landing her a masters at Williams College and now Ph. D at Harvard.

Lucian LiLucian Li

Groomsman

The Duke Quiz Bowl team led to many long-lasting friendships, and among the most important was Lucian and Steven’s. Lucian unsuccessfully tried to keep Steven awake in their shared history classes, and kind of successfully taught him how trade works in Europa Universalis IV. Lucian always creates detailed itineraries for Tetrarchy trips, and we hope he enjoys doing it because the rest of us are incapable. Lucian is currently at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign pursuing a Ph. D in Information Science, which sounds complicated. Lucian’s most recent act of praxis was inviting Steven to visit him at his Roblox internship, where Steven stuffed several pounds worth of snacks into his backpack to distribute to legal aid workers.

Cooper LairCooper Lair

Groomsman

The most famous of Steven’s friends, Cooper was a finalist in the 2014 Teen Jeopardy Tournament before finally making something of himself on Duke’s Quiz Bowl team. In college, Cooper and Steven frequently competed in legendary matches of Smash, Pokemon, and Chess, and not losing every time is one of Steven’s proudest accomplishments. Cooper and Steven led the “board game fraternity” Psi Upsilon to new heights/lows as President and VP respectively. We all have Cooper to thank for this wedding—Steven followed Cooper to Madison after graduating, where Cooper went to work for Epic Systems. Cooper was technically present when Steven and Gil first met, although he was hidden away in his room.
