Great for nature lovers, the American River Parkway runs all along the northern edge of downtown Sacramento

The oldest art museum in the Western United States, the Crocker has a sizable collection of European and California art

DOCO is an outdoor entertainment district with plenty of shopping and dining options

A touristy part of town if you're looking for knick knacks or to relive history on the Sacramento River. Also has the California Railroad Museum

Neighborhood near where Steven lives with a great farmer's market every Saturday morning and several LGBT+ friendly night clubs

America's largest alpine lake is a two hour drive east of Sacramento, and you can see California gold rush history on the way

Wine country is only about a 1.5 hour drive from Sacramento

Luckily there is a great train (Amtrak Capitol Corridor) to get to the Bay Area in around two hours
