FAQs

Question

When should we book our travel?

Answer

As soon as possible. March is a popular time in Key West and flights and hotels book up quickly.

Question

What Airport should we fly into?

Answer

Key West International Airport (EYW) is the closest and easiest option. Miami (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) are also good alternatives if you plan to drive down. Keep in mind the drive from Miami is about 4 hours.

Question

Do we need to rent a car?

Answer

No. Rental cars are not necessary and parking is limited. Uber, Lyft, bikes, and hotel shuttles are the best ways to get around.

Question

What should we wear?

Answer

Light, breathable clothing is best. The wedding will be outdoors, so dress for warm weather and beach vibes. Comfortable shoes or sandals are recommended.

Question

Is the wedding outdoors?

Answer

Yes. Please plan accordingly for sun, heat, and ocean breezes.

Question

Should we arrive early?

Answer

Yes! We recommend arriving at least one day early to relax, explore, and enjoy Key West before the wedding.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Please refer to the invitation or reach out to the couple directly if you have questions about bringing children.

What’s the best way to explore the island?

Answer

Rent bikes or Gas Scooters! Key West is flat, easy to navigate, and very bike-friendly.

Answer

Occasionally, especially around sunset. Bringing bug spray is a good idea.

Question

What are “no-see-ums”?

Answer

No-see-ums are tiny biting insects that can appear around sunset, especially near the water on calm, humid evenings. They’re common in the Keys but easy to manage.

Question

How can we avoid them?

Answer

Bring or buy bug spray (the small travel kind works fine). Most people are totally comfortable with basic protection, and they tend to be worse at dusk and near mangroves. PICARIDIN is the most effective

Question

Are there roosters everywhere?

Answer

Yes. They are loud, fearless, and part of the Key West charm 🐓
