Some say you can have love at first sight, but that was not the case for us. We had our differences when we first met but we still somehow found our way together. We first met through a mutual friend in Arizona. Steven was visiting from California and Caylee had come over to hang out for the day. It was apparent within the first few moments of meeting that we were not going to get along, our sarcastic personalities continually butted heads. After this day, Caylee went home and a few days later Steven returned to California. Weeks went by and we did not talk. Then in March, Steven visited AZ once more. While visiting he had a strong craving for one of his favorite places (Raising Canes) but had no car to get there. So, he decided to call his arch rival, Caylee, and to his surprise, she came to get him. We both joke now about this being our first date, because little did we know how far that day would take us. For the next few months we started to talk more and become closer friends. Then in August, Steven drove out to Arizona again, this time just to see Caylee (little did he know this would be his first of MANY trips across the desert). August 21, 2015 officially marked the date we became a couple. Since that day, we have been through and shared so much together. We traveled all across the state of Arizona and Hawaii during the first year of being together. Then in 2016, we survived being seperated a year while Steven was deployed. Steven moved to Arizona in 2017 to be with Caylee while she finished school. We started a fur family full of our two cats (Nala and Nova), our dog (Bella) and our horse (Daisy Mae). Now, we begin to resettle our lives in Arizona as a newly married couple. Thank you for being part of this celebration and experiencing the love that we have grown for one another.
After attending a wedding for a family member in California, Steven knew he wanted to marry Caylee. Seeing her interact with the family and "dancing" on stage, he couldn't think of a more perfect person to spend the rest of his life with. As soon as we arrived back to AZ, he went out in search of the perfect ring. Steven began to coordinate his proposal with one of Caylee’s best friends. Since we had already planned on traveling to beautiful Sedona, AZ to take Caylee's graduation pictures, Steven figured this would be as good of time as any. On the day of the actual proposal, not much was going right. The weather was super windy, making pictures difficult and finding the perfect location was proving to be a harder challenge than originally expected. With sunset quickly approaching, we finally found the perfect spot for pictures. Steven grabbed Caylee by the hands and attempted to make words. He was so nervous not much was coming out and Caylee didn't understand why his hands were shaking and why he was getting teary-eyed. After finally spitting out how proud he was of her for graduating and how much he loved her, he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. Caylee, in disbelief of the moment said no, turned and walked away! Steven said he was prepared for this reaction as Caylee is not good with public displays of emotion, so Steven remained on one knee and waited for Caylee to turn around and come back. And with tears of joy in her eyes, she turned back around and said yes!
