His Story

I vividly remember a dance party at the Truman State University International House in which I was trying to impress a cute Nepali girl that had just come to the US. Thinking back on it now, I don't know how I ever thought I would be able to impress a girl with those dance moves. Conveniently, however, Binu worked at the dining hall that I always ate at. I would always bring homework to work on after dinner so that I could talk with Binu on her breaks. As time went on, trials and hardships in our lives drew us close together. In the very difficult times, I knew I could always count on Binu joking around with me, giving me hugs, and making me Nepali tea - all things I desperately needed at the time. After that, I knew that Binu held a special place in my heart and it didn't take long before I expressed my feelings to Binu. Though at first we had to figure out how to reconcile various cultural barriers, in the end we made it work and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

Her Story

When I saw Steven while getting off the shuttle arriving at Truman State University for the first time, I thought he was very handsome and I thanked God for giving me such an attractive Cultural Integration Leader. However, I was just a student to Steven. But after goofing around enough together in the following months, becoming good friends the next year, and supporting each other through some very difficult times, things began to change. Even though we were just friends, when we left each other for Christmas break in 2017, we were both hiding feelings that we missed each other. When we got back together at the beginning of the spring semester, we binged two whole seasons of Stranger Things and after that Steven told me that he liked me. The rest is history.
