Stephen and I met during our Junior year at TCU in an ‘Intro to Python’ coding class. I sat in the very front row because I had poor eyesight, while Stephen sat in the middle of the room. I remember this detail because I was always turning around in my seat whenever Stephen would correctly answer a question. This was consistently impressive to me as I was doing very poorly and quickly knew that coding wasn’t my calling. Like any college girl trying to catch the attention of someone they find smart and attractive, I added Stephen on LinkedIn. Made the first move. But it must’ve been too subtle as it prompted no response from Stephen. Other than that attempt, we did cross paths after the final when we finished the exam around the same time and left the room together. We agreed we could both use a drink after that, and he said he’d be heading to The Pub (RIP to The Pub). I went as well, but I took too long and he was leaving as I arrived. Like two ships passing in the night, we missed another opportunity to get to know each other. It wasn’t until 5 months later during the Senior Bar Crawl, the night before graduation, that we saw each other again. We both happened to be at Kung Fu Saloon with different groups of people, and I was on my way to the restroom before leaving to go to the next place. I saw Stephen, and liquid courage helped us actually have an in-depth conversation. We spent all night talking, and really haven’t gone a day without talking since. About 4 months later, Stephen asked me to be his girlfriend on the porch swing at Bowen House in Dallas. Then, about 4 years later, he proposed to me in the blizzarding mountains of Banff, Canada. And the rest, is history!!
