In October 2016 Steve executed the most important one-inch movement he would ever make. He swiped right on Alix Jozy Flaherty. Alix exercised her thumb similarly that same day, swiping right on a photo of Marley. While it took over a month, Alix and Steve were able to bridge the chasm between Miami-Dade and Broward for their first date on November 12, 2016. It started at Gramps (the venue for their welcome party), but quickly moved to a stand serving pina coladas out of pineapples and then to a taco spot before the last stop of the night: Ball and Chain where they salsa danced the night away. Following the first date, Steve got a bit aggressive and decided to invite Alix over for Thanksgiving dinner for their second date. She accepted, bringing an extra bottle of wine (just in case). That night, they had their first kiss on the balcony overlooking the Bay, in the same spot that Steve proposed 1549 days later. Alix claims he was worth the wait. The two have traveled the world together (13 countries & counting!) and raised two full grown puppies. Fun facts: They currently live with their ½ beagle, ½ bear, ½ gremlin, Leia. They only go to the movies on Tuesday nights because they refuse to pay full price. Alix has cried at the movie Rudy more times than Steve has. The two have never lost a game of cornhole. They share a dream of one day starting a Beagle rescue. Steve loves Alix more than he loves Chinese food.
