Mark and I have known each other forever. We grew up together in church since we were "knee-high to a daffle duck" (as his grandpa always says). Through the years, I became close to his family and they have always played a huge role in my life. Even though I was always around his family we were just acquaintances for the longest time. However, that slowly began to change once him and his family moved back to the States after being missionaries in Ecuador. We began hanging out together and became really good friends. In September 2018, I moved to Houston. During this time we would occasionally keep in touch. He would always check on me to make sure I made it home safe and I needed his help remembering my "Cane's and Texas Roadhouse" order (lol I would always forget). June 28th of 2019, I moved to Dumas after accepting a 1st grade teaching position at one of the best schools in Texas. Guess who happened to be living in Dumas as well?!? Mark and his family. They had moved to Dumas to take over our fellowship church. About a month after being in Dumas and being around each other again sparks began to fly between the both of us. There was no denying we were interested in each other. Each time we were together we had a blast and laughed so much. We eventually started dating and well the rest is history. We are both beyond excited for this new chapter in our lives and know that none of it would be possible without God. All these years God had been orchestrating things behind the scenes and it's so amazing to see how every detail has played out. It's mind blowing what God can do in your life when you choose to serve Him and make godly decisions. So here's to a new chapter! #happilyeversaavedra
We decided to celebrate Valentine's early. After church we planned to go to dinner (we were in the middle of a revival). Mark called me before I headed to the church and said that plans had changed - his mom had cooked dinner and wanted us to join them. When the revival service ended, his mom asked if we could go grab a package of Oreos and a gallon of water. We left the church in a rush. I was thinking we had to hurry to make it back to the house in time. Little did I know that once we left, everyone was working together for the huge surprise. Meanwhile at Walmart, I was starting to go crazy from Mark taking his time getting the two items we needed. Once we finally left the store Mark told me we needed to stop by the church to pick up some extra chairs for dinner (which was totally believable). So thinking we were just getting chairs and knowing I wouldn't be much help, I nonchalantly followed him into the church. However, once I turned the corner I quickly realized we were not getting chairs. The set up was amazing (look in the photos tab to see it)!! I gave him an excited "Oh my gosh, yes!" before he even asked the question (lol) to which his response was "Wait, listen to my speech first!" (lol). After his speech, he got down on one knee with the ring in his hand and asked me to marry him!! We celebrated the proposal with his family and my parents that same night. We are so excited to celebrate this new chapter in our lives with you! See you in Dumas!
