There is actually quite a bit of lodging available. Depending on length of visit guests may look at booking.com, trip advisor, or Expedia. There are hotels at all price points and if you’re making a weekend out of it or like the idea of having a kitchen there are many airbnb or VRBO options. Custer is probably the nearest town but both Keystone and Hill City are charming and near as well. There is a block of rooms available until June 1st at Sylvan Lodge right near the reception venue.
Reptile Garden, Bear Country USA, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Rushmore Adventure Park, Cosmos, and helicopter tours are all very family friendly, fun things to do in the area. For adults, there are breweries and wineries worth checking out. A large group of us will be spending part of the weekend following riding ATVs and side by sides (which are rentable) through the many trails in the area. Feel free to reach out to myself or Kevin directly if you have specific questions about something. There’s also a black hills tourist site with even more information available. Deadwood is actually only an hour and a half away for those who would like to try their luck at a hand of cards or on the slots.
The Black Hills has always been a special area to us. (It’s where we got engaged.) We have had a ton of fun couples weekends near Deadwood and it was a nice compromise for Kevin (who wanted Wyoming). We loved the idea of doing the ceremony lakeside and both thought the area would be beautiful and fun. Plus the mountains are breathtaking. We would love to see everyone there but understand life is busy and it’s a lot to ask of our friends/family to travel so understand and there’s no hard feelings if you can’t make our special day.
