We met training for the New York City Marathon in 2018 through a running group called Fred's Team. This is a charity team that raises money for cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering, the hospital where Stephanie works. It was Stephanie's first marathon, but Howard was already a seasoned runner. We first started talking at the post-run breakfasts, and realized we only lived a few blocks away from each other. We spent a lot of time together at weekly runs and Fred's Team social events, but we consider our first official date as a couple on Valentine's Day when Howard bought Stephanie tickets to see Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden. Ever since then, you'll always find us on the go either at a race together, hanging out with friends or traveling somewhere fun. We managed to survive a pandemic together, including a NYC lockdown in a 700 square foot apartment. During a year of so many challenges and so much sadness we were able to be each other's silver lining on those tough days. On May 1st, while Stephanie was out on her morning run in Central Park, Howard met her at the end of her run at Engineer's Gate and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes! This happened to be the very first place Stephanie and Howard ever laid eyes on each other. Later in the day, Howard threw a surprise engagement party with close friends and family-making it the most perfect day. We are both so excited for the next steps to come and we can not wait to celebrate with everyone in June 2022!!
