Francis and Stephanie met on Coffee Meets Bagel. After chatting on the app for a few days, Francis suggested a quick meeting over tea or coffee. At that point, he was growing frustrated about dating culture in San Francisco, and grew to prefer casual boba tea/coffee meetings over longer dinners when meeting people for the first time. Stephanie did not realize this intention, and suggested a tea place for the first meeting, but it was more involved than Francis anticipated. Despite this, Francis obliged and was fairly confident the first date would go well after a great text conversation. Together we tried out a few different teas and chatted over charcuterie. What was supposed to be just a 30-minute first date extended into a three hour conversation about family, friends, and where each other was in our lives. We felt this unmistakeable, immediate connection, and we learned we had so much in common with our careers, heritage, and cross-country moves. Before the first date ended, we already agreed to see each other again. We knew we were each other's cup of tea!
