I guess you could call it “lucky in love.” Every love story has a beginning, and for Stephanie and Devon, their love story started on St. Patrick’s Day, 2021. It was a day filled with luck, laughter, and the unexpected spark that would change both of their lives. Not long after meeting, Devon used a bit of harmless charm to convince Stephanie to join him for what she believed was simply a friendly dinner down by the beach at CDM Restaurant. Little did she know, he fully intended for it to be their first date. Over dirty martinis (something they quickly learned they both loved), and ordering the exact same dish without hesitation, it became clear that something special was unfolding. Partway through their dinner, a server approached and asked if they were celebrating something, and if so, what?  Without a moment of doubt, Devon confidently announced, “Yes, our first date.” Stephanie’s eyes widened in complete shock as she exclaimed, “What?!” Devon just smiled and added, “Then we’re getting married.” And somehow, the boldness of his response felt right. The kind of “right” that only their two hearts could understand. From that evening on, their story grew with ease. Devon began planning dates every weekend that Stephanie kept saying “yes” to (despite the surprise of that first declaration at CDM). The connection felt natural, genuine, sincere, and as time passed, it became something neither of them wanted to let go of because they realized the connection they shared felt like “home” and a place they both belonged. A few months later, during a trip to Catalina Island, Devon asked Stephanie to make their relationship official at a wishing tree overlooking the water. Whether her heart completely melted or she simply realized she was stuck on an island in the Pacific Ocean remains one of their favorite jokes—but either way, she said yes, and their story continued. Nearly four years after the day they met, on March 15th, 2025, Devon got down on one knee on a quiet beach in Cabo at sunset and asked Stephanie to be his forever. She replied, “Did you ask my father?” When he said, “Yes,” she immediately burst into tears of happiness and held out her hand—her own heartfelt way of saying, “Yes.” That night, they toasted to their love and celebrated beneath the stars, filled with gratitude for every moment that led them to exactly where they belonged–with each other.
