Bastión Luxury Hotel

This was another hotel we stayed at during our second trip to Cartagena. The staff here was super nice. It is a 4-minute walk to our wedding venue. The breakfast that was included was great, and room service food was also very good!

Hotel

Hotel Casa La Fe

Carrera 7 (Cll 2da de Badillo) #36-125
Cartagena de Indias, Bolívar 130001, Colombia

This is where we stayed for a couple of days during our second trip to Cartagena and plan on returning. Also just a 4-minute walk to the wedding venue. This is a small boutique hotel with friendly staff. We found it to be a great, more economical option.

Hotel

Charleston Santa Teresa Cartagena

31-23 Carrera 3
Cartagena de Indias, Bolívar 130001, Colombia

We also can recommend staying here. We stayed at this hotel during our first visit to Cartagena when we were beginning our wedding planning process and really enjoyed our stay. This is a 14-minute walk or an 8-minute drive to our wedding venue. They were easy to schedule our airport transfers with too.

Travel Note

COVID Restrictions?

As of our most recent visit (September 2023), there are no longer any active COVID restrictions or requirements.

Travel Note

How can I get around?

We found that this area of the city was very walkable. We did not find the need to get a cab once during our visit with the exception of going to and from the airport. Ubers/Lyfts are not legal in Colombia. If you do find the need to order or schedule a cab please feel free to ask the hotel front desk staff to set that up for you. Also to note, inside the walled city there are some cobblestone walkways! Don't forget to pack some comfy walking shoes if you are planning on doing some exploring.

Travel Note

CheckMig Form

Once you are in Colombia, the country requires that you fill out this online form 72 hours in advance or up to one hour before your flight back home. There are QR codes you can scan at the airport and it only takes a minute so no worries if you forget and have to do it in line at the airport, but we've included the link below to help make things easy for our guests :)

Travel Note

What currency is used in Cartagena and should I have cash?

The currency used is Colombian Pesos (COP). If you are planning on shopping from local small businesses we do recommend keeping some cash on you. All the larger businesses and restaurants from what we saw they do receive major credit cards. It is also handy to have some cash for tipping purposes.

Travel Note

Should I practice my Spanish?

Sure! From our experience, the staff at hotels usually do know some English. Outside of hotels, while it appears that more and more locals are starting to speak English as Cartagena's popularity continues to grow, we would say that the majority of local service workers in this city still do not speak English. It may be a good idea to brush up on some key phrases - maybe play some Duolingo during the flight! Fear not! You will be surrounded by our friends and family and our wedding planner team will also be available to help.
