We came to this restaurant for dinner on our first night in Cartagena during our first visit and loved it! Live music, great service, and delicious food. The type of food they serve is Latin, Seafood, Sushi, Fusion. Our favorite dish of the night was the Arroz con Mariscos.
We also came to this restaurant for dinner one night and it did NOT disappoint! Great place to try some Colombian arepas with a ton of different options (including vegetarian/vegan). If you do come here please make sure you order the Yuquitas Quero as an appetizer or a side (SOOO GOOOD).
This Argentinean restaurant has a super cool ambiance. The menus were printed on recycled wine bottles and there are a ton of cool little details to look around at inside. And the food? Delicious. They have a lot of different good meat options but Steph got the Parilla Vegetariana and loved it.
We came to this restaurant for brunch. Great place to try some Colombian coffee and if you love it as much as Dan did you can even buy a bag to take home. This is also a great place to try an Arepa e' Huevo (you can't leave Cartagena without trying this dish somewhere!).
Our favorite thing to do when we travel together is to shop for souvenirs and look around at the work of local artisans. Las Bóvedas is a structure in the Old City of Cartagena in Colombia, attached to the walls. The Caribbean Sea is visible from the top of the structure. They were built as dungeons and are located between the forts of Santa Clara and Santa Catalina. Today they are filled with local and artisanal vendors. Perfect place to shop for souvenirs and cute things to take home to remember your time in Cartagena.
El Portal de los Dulces is right by the plaza behind la Puerta del Reloj. This walkway is full of confectionery stands selling local sweets and artisan-made candy. Our personal favorites are the Cocadas (sweets made with coconut and sugar that come in different variations & flavors). We bought a couple of boxes to take home during our visit but ended up eating one of the boxes in our hotel room before we even left!
The Castillo San Felipe de Barajas is a fortress in Cartagena. It is located on a hill called San Lázaro and was built in 1657 during the Spanish colonial era. Great place to get some amazing photos and get your steps in! Make sure you bring some water and wear some comfy shoes. You will need tickets to get in that can be purchased at the door.
If you would like to venture outside of the walled city, we highly recommend checking out this neighborhood. It is filled with beautiful street art around every corner, plenty of opportunities for good photos, and so many cool shops and small restaurants to check out.
Our wedding planners and a few other locals recommended this restaurant, and we're glad we ended up trying it out! The food was DELICIOUS and they had really great cocktails too. We recommend making a reservation online if you plan on going during the weekend. Like most of the restaurants in this city - the seafood is FIRE. Our favorite part was the empanadas de langosta (lobster), which we got as an appetizer.
If you're interested in getting your nails or hair done - Steph came and got her nails done here during our second trip to Cartagena and enjoyed her experience. You can schedule your appt with them (in English or Spanish) on WhatsApp using the link on their Instagram.
We will be continuing our celebration here the day after the wedding! Join us! Book a Day Pass on their website.
