FAQs

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Please wear Semi-Formal attire. Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses! While it does get hot in August, both the Mass and the reception will be taking place indoors. Please refrain from wearing white or similar light colors.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Due to the limited amount of guests we can accommodate, we ask that only those listed on your invitation attend our celebrations. Thank you for understanding!

Question

What is Communion?

Answer

Communion, or the Eucharist, is a sacrament in Catholicism where Catholics receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ, under the appearances of bread and wine. It is central to Catholic worship, commemorating the Last Supper and Our Lord’s sacrifice on Calvary. To receive Communion, a Catholic must be in a state of grace (free from mortal sin), have fasted for at least one hour before receiving, and believe in the doctrine of transubstantiation (the bread and wine becoming the actual body and blood of Christ).

Question

I am not Catholic. Can I receive the Eucharist?

Answer

We love our non-Catholic family and friends, and we are so happy to share in worship with you! However, Non-Catholics cannot receive Communion in a Catholic Church because it signifies full agreement with Catholic beliefs, especially the doctrine of transubstantiation (the bread and wine becoming the body and blood of Christ). We ask that out of respect for the Eucharist, you do not receive it unless you meet the requirements listed in the previous section. Non-Catholics can still participate in the Mass and receive a blessing instead of Communion. Simply enter the communion line, and cross your arms over your chest to receive a blessing.

Question

I have not gone to confession in a while. Should i receive communion?

Answer

The Eucharist should not be received by anyone in a state of mortal sin. A mortal sin is committed when the thought or action meets three requirements: grave matter, full knowledge, and full consent. We kindly ask that if you are baptized Catholic and plan to receive communion at our wedding, that you go to confession sometime before, especially if you have any mortal sin on your conscience. Meet Our Lord in the sacrament of His mercy! Please reach out to either Jacob, Stella, or a trusted Priest if you have any questions about this sacrament. We would love to walk with you through this!

Question

Does your Nuptial Mass count for my Sunday obligation?

Answer

Yes! For a Saturday Mass to count for your weekly obligation, it must begin at 4 PM or later. Our Wedding Mass will begin at 6:30 PM, fulfilling the requirements for a Saturday Vigil Mass!
