We are planning for black tie optional. Tuxedos are not required but men should wear a suit and women should wear formal attire. Preferably metallics and black colors. *Note - there will also be a second line parade following the reception (more on that below), so please make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes (or bring an extra pair!)
There are multiple parking garages and street parking around. However it can be difficult to find parking and Uber/Lyft might be easier.
The reception is less than half a mile from the ceremony. When you exit the church, take a right on Chartres Street and walk 3 blocks. Take a right on Conti Street and keep walking until you see Latrobe's on your left at Conti and Royal. It is the yellow building directly across the street from the Louisiana Supreme Court. If you do not wish to walk, Ubers, Lyfts, and pedicabs are available as well.
Heralded by the blare of an approaching trumpet or thump of a tuba, these colorful, vivacious parades are held on foot, led by a brass band, and completely take over one or more blocks at a time. It is one of the most common New Orleans wedding traditions and symbolizes the bride and groom embarking on their new life. The term “second line parade” refers to those who join in the rolling excitement. The people who are hosting the parade (such as the couple and the parade Grand Marshal) are a part of the “first line," while those who follow it along, dancing and often singing as they go while tossing handkerchiefs, form what is known as the “second line.”
We love all your kids but we are planning a childfree reception. If not having your child there would prevent you from coming please contact us
St. Louis Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Church, and our ceremony will be a full Liturgy with Matrimonial Rites. This will last approximately an hour. Programs will be provided so all may follow along with the progression of the Liturgy. All guests are encouraged to participate in the Communion Procession. If you have not been baptized in a Catholic faith, we ask you to place a hand on your heart, and the Eucaristic Ministers will be happy to offer you a blessing. If you are Catholic, you may receive Communion. All are welcome in this place, and we look forward to sharing this celebration together.
