One day, I was at work minding my own business, when I got a Facebook event invite. "Justin Edwards has invited you to go bowling for his 30th birthday..." Immediately, I said "Who the heck is Justin Edwards?". I proceeded to check out his Facebook page, at which point, I exclaimed "oh my gosh! My friend Eddy's name is Justin!" Despite the fact that I didn't remember talking to him previously, and had no idea how we'd even become Facebook friends (he was simply someone that I knew was an Ultimate frisbee player, but swore I'd never actually talked to...), I decided to go bowling. When I arrived, Eddy started telling me about 80s Prom. His description of the event went as follows: "It's the second best thing in Tulsa besides Ultimate. You need a date. You're going with me." He didn't ask. He told. But I'm so glad he did!
We'd been talking about getting married for a while. Eddy decided he was going to propose months and months ago, so when my apartment lease came due for renewal in October, Eddy and I sat down to discuss how long I should extend it, since we'd likely be getting married soon and I'd be moving in with him. "We'll probably get married in the spring. Yeah, you can plan on a spring wedding." He said. So I began calculating timelines. "We need to get engaged by this October, so we can send save the dates with our Christmas cards..." etc. It really as a perfect plan. Except for one key mistake: I forgot who I was dealing with. Timelines aren't Eddy's thing. So in grand Justin Edwards fashion, he waited until February to finally pop the question. (His family is still shocked he ever got around to it at all). He tried to throw me off guard by taking me to the ranch, where I figured he'd propose on Friday night for a campfire and some star gazing (it was 40 degrees, cloudy, and super windy). But Friday came and went. Saturday he had reservations at the Tavern, where we went on our official first date. He picked me up with red roses, and wearing a suit and tie (which I barely know he owns). We had a fancy dinner, which we never do, went to a bar for a few drinks, and the returned to his house. He put on "our song" and we started two-stepping/slow dancing to it in his empty living room. I think he'd planned to propose during that song, but he spent the first 3 songs asking me in different ways if I would say yes IF he asked me. Finally convinced, he got down on one knee during song #4 and asked me to spend my life with him!
