Stacy and Mehran first met in 2012 when they were both in Middle School, attending the California Military Institute. Their mutual friend, Kaitlan, was in the same class as Stacy, and they became quick friends. One day, Stacy joined Kaitlan for lunch, where she introduced Stacy to her friends from a higher grade. In this group of older friends was none other than Mehran himself. He did not take this new introduction kindly and was cold towards Stacy. They did not speak again until they were in high school, when they were both in the same math class and later in the same leadership groups. Through numerous study sessions, homework questions, and school excursions, they both grew fond of each other. One thing led to another, and their affections blossomed into love.
After many years of friendship, Mehran and Stacy grew closer together. On this date, Mehran mustered up the courage to officially ask Stacy to be his girlfriend at exactly 5:55 am while they were away on a school trip to San Luis Obispo, CA. They dated for 8 months until Mehran's graduation in 2017.
One of Mehran's greatest dreams was to become an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Upon graduation from high school, he was offered acceptance to the Naval Academy Preparatory School for a year and then to the United States Naval Academy for another four years. His graduation was one of the last times Stacy and Mehran were together in the same state for the next six years.
After graduating High School, Stacy was accepted into the University of California, Riverside. Here she spent countless hours studying and traveling to visit Mehran whenever she could. During this time, she also worked as a Medical Scribe in the Emergency Department of two sister hospitals.
Both Mehran and Stacy graduated from college on this date. Mehran graduated with a Bachelor of Science in English from the United States Naval Academy. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Stacy graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience with Honors.
Upon graduation, Mehran moved to Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, and then to Artillery School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Meanwhile, Stacy continued her studies in California. Their long-distance relationship continued, and they spent a lot of time on phone calls and FaceTime. Eventually, Mehran completed his schooling and became an Artillery Officer for the 3rd Battalion 11th Marines stationed in 29 Palms Marine Corps Base (much closer to home). Meanwhile, Stacy started her journey to obtain her Master's degree.
Stacy had just gotten off of work. After an 8-hour shift at the hospital that started at 6 am, she wanted nothing more than to come home to a warm shower and a hot meal, but Mehran had other plans. Mehran insisted that they go on a date to one of their favorite sushi restaurants in La Jolla. Even though Stacy was extremely tired, she decided to sleep on the car ride there and enjoy a date before the Christmas festivities began. A car ride that should have taken about an hour turned into a 2-hour ride in the slow lane as Mehran was trying to stall for time. Once they arrived and ordered, Stacy couldn't help but notice how long it took for the dishes to arrive. "They must be busy", she thought. After about a 3-hour dinner, Mehran wanted to go on a walk by the beach to Seal Cove, a walk they had often done before. Under the beaming moonlight and the endless honking of seals, Mehran guided her into a hidden pathway where their friends had secretly set up an elaborate scene. Before she could even realize what was going on, Mehran was down on one knee, and she said, "Yes!"
Since the proposal, Mehran and Stacy have both continued to excel in their respective fields. Stacy graduated with her Master's in Medical Sciences from the Southern California University of Health Sciences in December of 2024. She was awarded the university's 'Health Equity Award' for taking impactful steps to challenge and transform systems and policies, fostering a fair and just opportunity for health and well-being for all. She recently passed her national exam under the National Health Association and is now a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant while she studies for her MCAT and is applying to medical school. Mehran recently returned from a 6-month deployment in Australia and is now working as the Executive Officer of Kilo Battery 3rd BN, 11th Marines.
