WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET TO LA PAZ? There are two ways to get to La Paz. Fly into San Jose del Cabo international airport (SJU) or into La Paz international airport (LAP). 1) San Jose del Cabo international airport (SJD): SJD airport is 2 ¼ hour distance from La Paz. Most major US airlines service it. From the SJD airport we recommend arranging private van transportation. The driver will be waiting for you when you arrive and will drop you off at Marina Cortez in La Paz where you can catch the free water ferry to Paraiso del Mar. The cost is a flat rate for a one-way trip ($150 for a van holding up to 8 people). We can provide you the contact information. A private cab will be similar in price although not all cab drivers will be willing to take a fare because of the distance and no return fare. You can also rent a car, but it is expensive, and our advice is not to drive. Please reach out to us for insights if you are thinking of wanting a car. 2) La Paz international airport (LAP): Flights into La Paz require a connection in Mexico. Either through Mexico City, Guadalajara or Tijuana. This probably results in a longer flight time but is a convenient option since it’s only a 20 minute cab ride to Marina Cortez. Traveling from Southern California – it is recommended to use the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) in San Diego and fly from Tijuana International Airport (TIJ). There are direct flights from TIJ into La Paz on Volaris Airlines.

WHAT ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE? There are multiple accommodation options depending on your preferences. Given that all wedding-related activities will be held on the Paraiso del Mar property, we recommend staying on property rather than in town. The Paraiso del Mar resort is much like a gated community. There are both houses and condos available to rent. Transportation is by golf carts or vans. House and condo rental listings can be found on Airbnb, Casago, VRBO and Expedia. Use the following key words for your search: 'Paraiso del Mar, La Paz Mexico.' If you prefer to be in the downtown La Paz area there are hotels, apartments and home rental options on Airbnb and VRBO. We suggest finding a location within reasonable walking distance to Marina Cortez and the Malecon (sea-side walkway downtown) for convenience to the water ferry services.
