Transportation Around Santorini For guests arriving separately or exploring the island outside of wedding events, we highly recommend pre-booking transportation in Santorini whenever possible, especially for airport transfers, ferry arrivals, and trips to Oia. Taxis on the island can be limited during busy hours, and ride-share apps like Uber are not commonly used in Santorini. We recommend the following trusted transportation companies for private transfers and smaller group transportation during your stay: • Santorini Transfer – Great for airport pickups, hotel transfers, and transportation around the island including Oia, Fira, and beach areas. They offer private cars, vans, and scheduled transfers and are known for being reliable and easy to communicate with. We strongly recommend arranging transportation in advance for: • Airport arrivals & departures • Ferry port transfers • Exploring the rest of the island • Late evening transportation after dinners or drinks Most rides across the island are approximately 20–40 minutes depending on traffic and destination. Please note that Santorini roads can be narrow and busy during sunset hours, particularly in Oia. Comfortable walking shoes are also encouraged throughout the trip due to cobblestone streets, hills, and uneven pathways.

Flight
Flights Within Greece (Athens ↔ Santorini) For travel between Athens and Santorini, we strongly recommend booking through Aegean Airlines, which is Greece’s primary full-service airline and generally the most reliable option for domestic island flights. Aegean and Olympic Air operate multiple daily nonstop flights between Athens (ATH) and Santorini (JTR), with a typical flight time of approximately 45–55 minutes. (Aegean Airlines) For most guests, we recommend booking either the “ComfortFlex” or “Family” fare options rather than the lowest “Light” fare. While the Light fare can appear cheaper initially, it usually does not include checked baggage and may have more restrictions. ComfortFlex is typically the best overall value for travelers attending the wedding because it generally includes: • One checked bag up to 23kg (50 lbs) • Carry-on baggage allowance • More flexibility for changes • Better seating options and boarding flexibility The Family fare is also a great option for guests traveling with children and includes additional family-friendly benefits and discounts. (Aegean Airlines) Typical roundtrip pricing between Athens and Santorini ranges around $110-200 per person for one-way depending on the season, baggage selection, and how early flights are booked. Prices tend to increase significantly closer to travel dates, especially for morning flights and popular island travel days. For guests continuing on to other islands such as Paros, Mykonos, or Naxos after the wedding, ferries and additional domestic flights are also widely available from Santorini.
Travel Note
Ferries to Paros & Naxos For guests continuing their travels through the Greek islands after the wedding, ferries are the easiest and most scenic ways to travel from Santorini to Paros & Naxos. The most commonly used ferry companies for these routes are Blue Star Ferries and SeaJets, both of which run routes throughout the Cyclades islands. We highly recommend booking through Ferryhopper, which allows you to compare schedules, companies, trip durations, and prices all in one place. Ferryhopper is widely used for Greek island travel and is generally the easiest platform for international travelers to manage bookings, mobile tickets, & schedule updates. Typical ferry routes: • Santorini → Paros: approximately 2–4 hours depending on ferry type • Santorini → Naxos: approximately 1.5–3 hours depending on ferry type There are two main ferry styles guests will see: • High-Speed Ferries (SeaJets): Faster travel times and more modern seating, but typically more expensive and can feel bumpier on windy days. • Conventional Ferries (Blue Star Ferries): Slower but larger, more stable, and often considered the most comfortable option for travelers with luggage, children, or motion sensitivity. Typical one-way ticket pricing: • Economy ferry seats: approximately $48–$110 per person Unlike airlines, Greek ferry pricing usually does not fluctuate dramatically, but schedules and preferred departure times can sell out. We recommend booking ferries approximately 2–4 months in advance for the best availability and easiest island planning. Important tips for ferry travel in Greece: • Arrive at the ferry port at least 45–60 minutes early • Keep passports/IDs accessible when boarding • Expect some stairs, ramps, and busy boarding areas • Bring motion sickness medication if you are sensitive to rough water or wind For guests traveling with larger luggage, children, or wanting a more relaxed experience, we personally recommend Blue Star Ferries whenever timing allows.
